I Hate Goodbyes

After quickly heading back to my place to grab a few things the following morning, Ruby and I spent the next two days together. We watched movies, we ate, we talked and we laughed. We also had plenty of sex! And I mean a lot of mindblowingly amazing sex! But now the time had come for her to head back to America, and I would be lying to myself if I said it didn't hurt to let her go. Ruby is literal perfection. She is everything I ever wanted, and now I have to say goodbye.

"Maya?" She whispers, breaking me out of the haze of thoughts swirling around in my head.

"Sorry?" I reply, realising she had spoken and I'd missed it.

"My ride to the airport will be here in fifteen minutes".

"Oh right... course".

"You okay?"

"Yeah, just a lot going around in my brain right now".

"Yeah? Like what?"

"Like how much I'm gonna miss you. These last few days have been the best of my life. I feel more comfortable within myself when I'm with you" I blush shyly as my fingers trace the tattoos on the arm she is using to hold me against her as we sit back against the mountain of pillows on the bed.

"I'm gonna miss you too Maya... you are something else. And... I really like you" Ruby smiles.

"You do?"

"Yeah I do... a lot. I thought that was pretty obvious" she laughs.

"Well.... I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to seeing these kind of things" I chuckle.

"You know, I would say come back with me, but I know that isn't fair of me to ask. I like you a lot, and I feel like we have this connection and I don't wanna let that go. But you have a life here, a job, family. I can't just ask you to leave that all behind for me" Ruby tells me.

"What if I was willing to?"

"Are you?"

"Maybe not quite yet but... given time? You know... we could try a long distance kind of thing and see how this all works out, see how serious this thing between us is and go from there?" I suggested.

"You'd be okay with that?"

"Of course... I really like you Ruby. And not just because of your fame or anything like that. That's not the kind of person I am. I like you for who you are. And I like how you make me feel. And I'd be okay with anything that means I get to be with you" I smile.

Ruby leans in and presses her lips to mine in a deep kiss. "I'm gonna miss you so much" she whispers.

"I'll miss you too" I smile.

"So, how are we gonna make this work Baby?"

"Well... there's time differences so... according to Google here in Wellington we are 19 hours ahead of L.A."

"Meaning... I will be five hours later than you, but the day before" Ruby calculated.

"Yeah, exactly".

"Okay cool. We can work around that" She grins.

"In between our jobs and every day life".

"We'll make the time. This... us, it's worth it".

"Yeah it is" I smile as I peck her beautiful lips.

"So will we be exclusive?" She asks.

"Is that what you want?" I reply, knowing in my heart that's what I want.

"Well... the thought of you with anyone else doesn't exactly make me happy. But I understand if you want to explore things you know? I can't expect you to put your whole life on hold and wait for me" Ruby tells me.

"I don't want anyone else. I just want you" I smile. "Besides... you've completely ruined me for all other women. No one could compare to you".

"So your my girl then?"

"I'm your girl" I confirm.

"And I'm yours" Ruby grins before kissing me deeply. "Fuck Baby... you are completely under my skin".

"Yeah?"

"Absolutely. I don't know how I'm gonna deal with leaving you".

"Well... you have my phone number, and my Facebook, email... everything under the sun. So we can talk all the time. We can even video chat so I can see your beautiful face" I tell her as I stroke her cheek.

"As soon as I know when I have some time off, I'm booking a flight to come back and see you".

"I'd like that".

"Come here" Ruby smiles as she pulls out her phone. "I need some photo's of us together".

We pose for the camera, smiling, kissing, laughing and everything in between before her phone begins to ring. She answers it and has a brief conversation before hanging up.

"My ride is here" she says a little sadly.

"Alright. I'll walk you down" I smile as I get up and sling my backpack over my shoulder as she grabs the handle for her suitcase.

The whole way down to the garage where her car is waiting her hand is in mine, and I can't help but think how perfectly it fits. Like it was just meant to be there. God I am already so hooked on this woman.

Ruby puts her suitcase in the car and turns back to me, her hand cupping my face. "I'll be in touch as soon as I land okay Baby".

"Yup. Travel safe alright" I smile softly, admiring just how gorgeous this woman is and I can't believe she is mine.

"Stay right there" she smiles.

"What? Why?"

"Coz the way you are looking at me right now is fucking beautiful and I want to capture it" Ruby grins and she pulls out her phone and snaps a picture before I start giggling. Taking the opportunity she snaps a few more before pulling me into her embrace. Her lips meet mine in a deep and passionate kiss and I feel myself melting against her. "Talk soon Maya" she smiles.

"I'll be waiting" I grin as her hand slowly slips from mine before she climbs into the back of the car. I watch as the vehicle pulls away while Ruby waves out the window. I blow her a kiss that makes her grin widely and God damn it that smile gives me butterflies.

I slowly head back home, the memories of the last few days flooding my mind and nothing has ever made me so happy. Andy has been blowing up my phone for the last couple of days after I told him I was leaving the club with Ruby. I'm sure he was dying to know what happened with her. Obviously not in any great detail, but Andy always needed to know if I was happy. My whole life he has looked out for me, and I love that about my big brother. Sometimes I swear he knew what I wanted or needed before I knew myself.

Right now what I need is a long hot bath, but the last thing I want to do is wash away the smell of Ruby that lingers on my skin. Damn... I got it bad.
