Three months had passed by and Ruby and I would talk almost every single day. She had been super busy filming an upcoming movie in which she was playing a bad ass heroin. Totally fitting.

I had watched her the other day on Jimmy Fallon and during the interview he had asked her about her love life and she had begun blushing. It was the most adorable thing I have ever seen in my life. Without giving away too much she had talked about her recent trip to New Zealand and how she met a 'sweet and beautiful girl' while there. That small statement was enough to have had me smiling like mad for the past few days.

Tonight it's my big brother Andy's birthday and we are celebrating at his best friends club. The very place that Ruby first kissed me. The place where this whirlwind began. Returning here has my heart aching for her even more, so I decide to have a few drinks to try and forget about that tight feeling within my chest.

Before coming out tonight we chatted briefly over video call and seeing her beautiful face made me unbelievably happy. And the fact that she was going to have a week off filming at the end of the month was just icing on the cake. She had already booked her flights to come back and see me. I love how eager she is to come back, she makes me feel special. She makes me feel like I am worth flying halfway around the world for.

As the night goes on I just can't shake the thought of Ruby from my mind. I stay long enough to have a few drinks and celebrate my brothers birthday with him before catching a taxi home and calling it a night. After a long hot shower I climb into bed, looking at Ruby's beautiful face on my phone's home screen. God I miss her. What I wouldn't give to be in her arms right now. Slowly I start to drift off with thoughts of my girl flooding my dreams.

I wake the following morning and I am so glad that it's Saturday, I could definitely use a lie in. As I check my phone I see that Andy has posted a bunch of photos on Facebook some of which he has tagged me in. It was definitely a good night and I'm glad to have been a part of it.

Checking my other messages there are a whole bunch from Ruby and I start to panic. Fuck is something wrong? Has something happened to her? My mind starts to race at a million miles an hour.

As I read through the messages it all suddenly becomes very clear. She saw the pictures on facebook and has the wrong idea about me and one of the women I was pictured with... fuck. No. This cannot be happening.

Immediately I try to call her but there is no answer. I hope to hell she is just busy working and not avoiding me. After leaving her a voice message as well as a text I decide to go about my day instead of sitting around freaking out about the possible aftermath of this whole situation. That won't do me any good.

It isn't until around 5pm when I finally hear from Ruby, and the moment she messages me I call her for a video chat.

"Hey you" I smile as her beautiful face appears on my screen.

"Hey"

"I got your messages"

"You could have warned me Maya. Waking up to seeing photos of you and another woman on facebook...I thought we were exclusive? If you want to see other girls I'll understa-"

"Wait! Babe, before you say anything more the woman in the photos kissing my cheek is my sister in law Cassie" I tell her.

"Sister in law?"

"Yes Babe. She's married to Andy. I would never do that to you I swear. I'm kinda hurt you think I'd cheat on you. I told you, you are the only one for me".

"Fuck. I'm sorry Baby... I'm an idiot. I just... I got so jealous seeing another woman with her arms around you... kissing you. I freaked out okay. The thought of losing you terrified me because I love you so much".

"You'll never lose- wait... what?"

"I love you Maya" Ruby smiles.

"You love me?"

"I do..."

"Wow".

"You don't have to say it back if you're not-"

"Shut up" I laugh as I cut her off. "Of course I love you!"

"Thank God... that could have been embarrassing" Ruby laughs. "I'm sorry I got a little crazy".

"Don't worry about it Babe. I do too. Every time I see you kiss another woman on screen I want to punch them in the face for even touching my girl" I tease.

"You're such a dick" Ruby laughs.

"Yeah I am. But you love me anyway".

"Hell yes I do. I can't wait to see you Baby. I miss you so much".

"I miss you too Roobs".

"I'll be counting down the days" she laughs.

"I've already started".

Ruby and I talk until she is too exhausted and begins to fall asleep. We say goodnight and my head is at peace knowing that we are all good. Better than ever in fact.

With our true feelings out in the open it's not hard for me to see that we can have a future together. As much as I love my job at Weta Workshop, I would gladly move halfway across the world to be with her. LA has a thriving film industry, and I am sure that given my work experience I will be able to find a job over there. I mean, I'm getting a little ahead of myself right now but... I am head over heels for this woman. And if she asked me to leave my life in New Zealand behind, I wouldn't even have to give it a second thought!
