JOLENE'S P.O.V
To excited for the night Jolene decided to call in sick. She had been texting back and forth with Joshua all week. Something about his energy had totally shifted but she coughed it up to burn out.
Trying on every outfit in her closet she finally settled on a strapless off the white jumpsuit. Even with the Spanx, she looked the best that she had ever looked in a long time. Her transformation was getting attention outside of her own head. She had gotten more compliments in the last few months then she had ever gotten in her 28 years of living.
Staring at her phone watching time slime by she felt like she was in an insane asylum. With three hours left before their date, she decided to make her way out.
DOWNTOWN
Since moving home she never stepped foot outside her house unless she had to. A lot had changed since she left here for good. Growing up, the only people who came downtown were drug addicts, drug deals, or college students looking for drug dealers. Since then it came to mimic Rodeo Drive. Thanks to gentrification there were nothing but high-end retailers, macaroon shops and dozens of drive-through Starbucks.
The place they had settled on was this small Italian restaurant Vittoria Trattoria. A few months ago the thought of walking into a place like this would've given her a panic attack. Now, with or without Joshua, she could visualize herself coming in on her own to grab a table and a glass or two of white wine.
Deciding the best way for her balance out the adrenaline was with a healthy dose of liquid courage she ordered a glass and fantasized about what the future had in store for her.
