“Buk! Buk! Buk!”
Pak Kassim grinned, thinking about the Durians that fell not far from his hut. He stood up and grabbed his torchlight. The thick and dark jungle was noisy with insects and cicadas, and howling monkeys that sounded eerily like screaming children. Pak Kassim put on his flip-flops and tottered towards his Durian trees.
He saw a black sphere a few paces in front of him. He held his torch under his arm pit and stooped forward, picking it up. As soon as he touched it, the woods fell silent abruptly; like a tomb.
Pak Kassim was shocked to find that the fruit was not thorny, but instead, there was hair and some of the surface was soft like skin. He weighted it in his palms before turning it over, and shone his light. The eyes on top of a pointy nose opened and glared at Pak Kassim.
