Rue
I failed it.
I strongly believe I failed that test.
I had no fucking clue what I was doing. I left my calculator at home and no one had a spare calculator, so I was evidently stuck.
Doing math in my head isn't my strongest pursuit and also when doing math on paper, I am more prone to making mistakes, and since making a mistake on this test is dire it could affect my education.
When everyone was out of the class I decided to go speak to Professor Vander.
"Hey professor." I said in a high-pitched tone.
He looked up at me through the top of his glasses.
"Hello Ms. Watson." He said monotonously.
I gave him a cheeky smile as I put one arm on his desk.
And no I was not getting ready to fuck him. I have morals.
"Um, is there like- uh- any possible chance you can curve the grade of the test?" I remained smiling cheekily.
He sighed as he set his glasses down on the desk and dropped his pen.
"No."
"Really ?! Okay cool! How much is the curve-."
"-Wait what." My face instantly dropped.
"I am not allowed to do that Rue. Whatever grade you get is whatever grade you have. There will be more opportunities to bring your class grade up if you didn't do too well on this test. Now please, exit my room." He pointed towards the door.
"Professor please!" I whined.
"Go." He dismisses me.
Feeling defeated, I walked out the room with my head low.
What am I going to tell my mom? I don't want to disappoint her. She'll probably die if she finds out that I got kicked out of school and will never talk to me again. She wants me to be better than her. How can I be better when I can't even remember to bring a calculator to a test that I've been so focused on for the past week and a half.
"What's got you feeling so melancholy?" The familiar voice stopped me in my tracks.
I turn around to see the guy-or should I say VAMPIRE from yesterday standing in front of my school.
I completely forgot about yesterday.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
I looked up to see the sun was out. I then looked back down to Jason to see that he was standing in the sun as well.
"Your skin is not burning?" I was genuinely confused at this point. Is this man even a real vampire?
Was I just hallucinating last night because of paranoia?
"No." He smiled as he put his arms out and stretched.
"Why?"
"My father created a vaccine that allowed us vampires to go out in the sun. It's specifically made for those of us who want to live a normal life and blend in, ya know?"
A vaccine for vampires to go out in the sun? Cool!
"So you're a part of that group right?" I asked.
He puckered his lips and shook his head.
"No. In answer to your previous question, I'm just here to keep watch."
Keep watch? Why does he need to keep watch of me? He told me not to say anything about the vampire race and although I didn't directly agree, I knew I wasn't going to say anything. Clearly I don't want to be killed by vampires so why would I even say anything. Does he not trust me?
