"So you finally let her go?" my dad asked.
"Yeah." I said, looking over the water. "No point of trying force it anymore just so she's happy. I have to be happy too."
"You're not wrong there." he said back to me. I looked over at Maya, who was throwing rocks into the water, making sure that she was okay.
"How's Maya and her guy problems?" I asked.
"I really don't know." my dad said. "At 14 she really shouldn't have none, but there's this one kid she likes."
"What he look like?" I asked, curious, looking back out at the water.
"Your complexion, short hair, brown eyes, all that good shit." he said.
"Hmph." I said, my mind racing back to everything. I wonder how Brenna is doing. We haven't really talked since I tried to get her to come sit back with us at lunch, but I understand why. She talks to everyone else, including China. Also understandable.
"Has China talked to Booboo yet?" dad asked.
"I don't know, but she told me that she would let me know." I said.
"Is Brenna talking to you at all since the break up?" he asked.
"Nope." I said. "Talks to everyone else though." My dad chuckled.
"What did you expect?" he asked. "You broke her heart."
"Not intentionally." I said, sighing, watching as Maya came over to me.
"You're ugly." she said.
"Jokes on you." I said, pulling her into my for a hug. "We're siblings, so that means you're ugly too." She pulled back, scrunching her face up at me, so naturally I did it back.
"Hard news to take in huh?" I asked.
"Kinda." she said, laughing, hugging me again.
"You wanna go for some ice cream after this?" I asked her.
"Of course." she said. "Who do you think I am?"
"You couldn't say no?" I jokingly, asked.
"Again." she began. "Who do you think I am?"
"Right." I said, grinning. "You down for some ice cream two pops?"
"I don't mind." he said, running his hand over his head.
"Missing your hair?" I asked, snickering.
"If I'm correct, my genes show strongly in you, which means your ass will be bald too." he said.
"Aye chill." I said, laughing. "I love my hair, don't jinx me."
"You did it to yourself." he said. "Leave me and my hairless head alone."
"Alright alright." I said, still laughing. "I'm sorry."
"Mhm." he said. "Now let me ask you a question."
