"Get to class Taj." I said, playfully shoving him into his locker.

"I'll get there on my own time." he said, shoving me back. I laughed, leaning against the locker next to his.

"What's this I'm hearing that you're always an hour late for your curfew?" I ask him. "You want more freedom, but you ain't taking the right steps for them."

"My rebel ways will get me what I want." he said, closing his locker. "What class you got right now?"

"Algebra." I responded, taking a bite out of my apple.

"Lucky." he said. "With my luck of course I have a writing class right now." We walked down our extremely long hallway, exchanging casual conversation. Throwing my apple, I smiled when I saw Brenna at her locker, talking to China.

"I'll catch up with you later." I said, patting him on the back.

"Sounds good." he said, continuing to make his way to class.

"Boys are so complicated." I heard China say as I got closer to them.

"Tell me about it." Brenna said.

"Yeah, totally tell me about it." I said, leaning on the locker behind me. "I'm so interested."

"Hey you!" Brenna said, turning around and greeting me with a smile.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked, returning the smile.

"That's my cue to go." China said, walking away.

"I'll text you later!" I yelled to China as she walked away.

"Love you too freckled baby!" she shouted back.

"My parents are so excited for you to come over today." I said to Bren as she rearranged the things in her locker.

"Oh yeah?" she asked.

"Of course." I said back. "They love you. I talk about you non-stop."

"Well I'm glad to hear that." she said back. "Now get to class before you're late."

"I should say the same thing to you." I say, giving her a kiss on her forehead, one that she returned on my lips, causing me to smile at her again.

"I'll see you later okay?" she said, giving my hand a squeeze.

"Hell yeah, girl." I said as we walked in opposite directions to class. I walked into Algebra, immediately taking my seat next to Ty.

"What's up bro?" he said, greeting me with our handshake.

"Shit, nothing much." I said. "I'm ready to go home."

"Well we got about 3 more periods before you can do that." he said. "Heard your girl is coming over today."

"She's not my girl, Ty." I said. Not yet at least. I know. I know. I should just ask her out. I'm working on it, trust me.

"Oh shut up, nigga." he said, flipping his pencil up and down in the air. "That basically is your girl and you know it. You're too pussy to ask her out. Ole' baby faced ass."
