Chapter 38: China's Party

Oh her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they're not shinin'
Her hair, her hair falls perfectly without her tryin'
She's so beautiful and I tell her everyday

Yeah, I know, I know when I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so sad to think that she don't see what I see

"Sike." I said, bouncing the ball between Thomas's legs as he tried to steal it from me. "Try again." What happened in China's room was still fresh on my mind. I don't know what that was and I wasn't sure that I wanted to find out. Yes, China is beautiful and she means a lot to me, but she's also been my best friend for so long. There's no way we could be anything more even if one of us wanted to try. Plus, she was more than happy with Booboo, not even thinking about me and I was happy right where I was with Brenna.

"Pay attention!" Taj shouted at me, snapping me out of my thoughts, the ball almost hitting me in my face. "Stop staring at your girlfriend. It's nigga time! Let the girls be girls!" If only he knew that I wasn't staring at Brenna, but of course I wasn't going to let him know that.

"My bad." I said, bouncing the ball back and forth between my legs. "You right."

"I'll be right back." Thomas said, huffing as he walked away.

"Is he good?" Taj asked, trying to snatch the ball from me, but I quickly stepped back so he couldn't.

"I don't know." I said, the rest of us looking off in the direction he was going. Lauryn was pulling him by his hand, away from the rest of the girls.

"Where is he going with my sister?" Taj said, trying to walk away.

"Hold on." I said, pressing my arm into his chest. "Don't go over there so hostile."

"Nah." he said. "Where is he going with my sister?" When we all looked over there again, they had both disappeared, leaving Brenna, China, China's Lauryn and Sofia in conversation.

"Maybe they had to do something?" Ty suggested.

"Nah nah nah." Taj said, pushing my arm away, darting over there. I sighed, passing the ball to Ian.

"Taj." I said, chasing after him, not wanting to cause a scene. He made a sharp turn around a corner and what I saw, shocked the shit out of me. I didn't expect it, at all.

"What the fuck is this?" Taj asked, causing Thomas and Lauryn to separate from each other.

"Taj, I can-," Lauryn began saying.

"Is this what you were hiding from me?" Taj asked, looking back and forth between them.

"Yea, because I wanted to-," he cut her off again.

"You making moves up on my sister? Did she even give you permission?" he asked, pushing Thomas up against the wall.

"We are fucking dating, Taj" Lauryn said, pushing him away from Thomas.

"And you didn't tell me?!" he asked, raising his voice.

"This is why!" Lauryn said, also raising her voice. "You shoved him into the fucking wall!"
