Graduation Day

Winter

Today's the day and I just couldn't hold my excitement in at all. I woke up early this morning and made my family breakfast. I picked up my cap and gown from the cleaners and went and got a mani/pedi/ facial. I'm fucking graduating high school today!! I'm also getting married but shhhh that's only between us.

We did tell our parents that we've decided to give the dating thing a try. Neither objected and said it was about time. It's crazy how others see what you don't.

I sat on the couch flipping through channels out of boredom. It was barely 2pm and I didn't have to be at the stadium until 5:30pm which seemed like forever from now. I was just so anxious.

My phone vibrated against the armrest and I picked it up. I hit the green phone button and waited for it to connect. G was all the the camera smiling while rubbing his hand downward on his head.

"Dude get a haircut and just don't know how to act," I joked.

"It's always a hater in the bunch."

"A hater? Boy bye." I smacked my lips and rolled my eyes dramatically causing him to laugh. I never realized how cute his laugh was before. Then again I never crossed that line before last week. I don't regret it though.

And before you go and get all Miss Judgmental on me, no I don't just sleep with any and everybody. I have respect for myself. It was just different with G. I didn't have to question it, you know? I just knew that it was going to be okay. I've never questioned him with my safety and well being before, why would I now?

"Winnntttteeerrrrrrr!!!" G yelled, tapping the phone screen. I forgot I was even on the phone. I tend to space out a lot.

"Yes G?"

"I said... are you ready for tonight?"

"I sure am ! I have my bag packed and ready to go. Are we taking my car or your truck?"

"It doesn't matter to me. The ball is in your court."

I hate when he says that. Even though he says it's no pressure, it's complete pressure. Now I have to think about the what would be the right answer then I'll over analyze it and it's not that deep I know, but that's how my complex ass brain works. Just pick Winter. Don't be complicated.

"My car, you driving," I said with much confidence.

"Ooouu, you so demanding. I like that."

"All you do is play. Bye G!" I laughed. We said our goodbyes and ended the call. I set my alarm and laid across the couch. I felt a nap coming soon.

G

"Why are you packing?" My little sister Gianna asked as she came in my room and hopped on my bed. She was 12 years old and my whole heart. Nosey as hell but I loved her regardless.

"Me and Winter are going somewhere after graduation," I said, short and sweet. I didn't lie, I just didn't give all the details.

"I like Winter. She's nice to me."

I smiled a little, thinking maybe this is what I've needed this whole time. I still couldn't believe it took me 4 years to realize it. I just thought it was me being protective of her. Me being a friend. I mean of course I'm not like that with my homies but they can fend for themselves. She's a woman, it's different. Not saying that she can't handle her own, it's just natural of a man to want to protect a woman regardless of what you guys are to each other.
