The week flies by, most of the time I spend in school are in my thoughts, daydreaming and staring out the window. Every now and then my thoughts are interrupted by a teacher telling me to pay attention, which their aspersing will not change, or even more annoying; someone asking me to borrow an eraser, which I never have.

I've been in a weird mood lately, I actually not sure what's gotten into me and neither does Jessy. But what I do know that it started and hasn't stopped until the day I met Jason.

I'm at the lockers, taking out some books I need to revise for the week end when I barely hear Jessy walk over to me and poke my stomach.

"Hey!" she says, smiling widely. I know that smile.

Oh dear, this can't be good. I stare at her for a while, waiting until she tells me the news that will probably either get her in the detention hall again or suspended.

"What?" she says, putting her hands on her hips. "Can't I just be happy?"

I roll my eyes and slam my locker shut. I head down the hallway and Jessy follows.

"So are you not gonna ask?" she says, sounding annoyed.

I sigh. "Oh Jessica, why must thy becometh by so peculiar?"

Jessy looks at me like I'd just spoke to her in alien language and I laugh.

"Sorry, Shakespeare's growing on me..."

"Creep." she mutters. "No really, guess what?"

"What?"

Jessy gives me a look.

"Dost thou have a date this week end?"

"Would you STOP talking like that!"

"Sorry."

"But yes, you're right!"

"Really?" I say, sounding more bored than surprised. Why would I be surprised? Jessy has a date every week end. Why would this one be any different?

"Yes, and guess who asked me out."

"Anthony?" I ask, getting out my water bottle from my bag and taking a long gulp. Last lesson PE really does tire me out.

"Ew, no." She says it in a way that makes Anthony look like a piece of dogs shit on a the pavement. Really, he's gorgeous, and quite sweet. And she dated him for a week and then got bored, which is a shame. "Michael."

I choke on my water.

What I want to shout is, "Oh no. No no. That is NOT gonna happen. Uh-uh! Nope. Never. NO."

But instead I just say, "Oh?"

"I know, I can't believe it!" she squeals. "He finally asked me out!"

I should be happy for her, I guess. But... Michael, my brother... really? I know she's had a crush on him for a long while now, who hasn't? But I never really thought it'd actually happen. Well, I don't know why I thought it wouldn't, when you think about it, they have quite a lot in common.

Jessy's staring at me expectantly, I know I should say something, but I don't know what to say. She continues anyway. "He just walked up to me today after lunch and he asked me what I was doing this week end and I was like, "It depends, where are we going?" and he just laughed and then he said "Wherever you wanna go, babe." HE CALLED ME BABE! And then he..."

I feel myself slowly zoning out, along with Jessy's very fast talking, fading into the background.

Then I'm zoned back in again when Jessy hits my arm.

"Huh? Yeah, sure," I say, when Jessy asks if I was even listening.

She groans and rolls hers eyes. "Anyway, what are you up to this week end?" she asks.

"Nothing," I say disappointingly, feeling a pang of jealousy towards Jessy when I realise what is actually happening. Jessy has a date with Michael this week end and they haven't even talked before... well, not properly anyway.

"You could come along if you want?" she suggests.

"What? And watch you make out with my brother all night? No way!"

"Don't be silly, you can bring Jason," she says, opening the school door.

Hmmm...

I start to consider it, but then I say, "But, won't it be awkward?"

"Why?"

"My brother being there and everything... I mean, it's bad enough going out with my brother, let alone having your best friend being with you when you are."

"Oh c'mon, it's not that bad... is it?" she says, looking a little unsure herself.

I shake my head. "No, don't worry. Look, I'll think about it. I better get going."

"OK, I'll text you what time the movie starts!" she calls.

"Great, see ya," I say, before walking around the corner towards home.
