I put on my clothes I picked out yesterday; a blue jumper, black leggins and black boots. And finishing touches; the stunning gold necklace Jason gave me last night and I wear some light make up. I take out the plaits I neatly did last night and then brush it, making my hair a little more wavy than usual.
Dad's already left for work and Sara's waiting in the car to drop me off, so I throw down a quick bowl of cereal and some orange juice from the carton. I feel excited to go to school, and that scares me. I know it's not the stimulating leaning environment I was anticipating, or definitely not having to hear Jessy obsess over Michael all day. Or Rita. If I'm being honest with myself, I know I was eager to get to school this Monday morning because I would see Jason Drew.
I'm early, walking alone from the locker room to the Chemistry lab and I have a wisp of optimism bubbling inside of me. Even though it's Monday and it's Chemistry first lesson; I feel as though it doesn't matter. Nothing bothers me anymore.
I have Jason with me, and that's all I need.
As I walk purposefully into the Chemistry lab, I feel my heart sink as I spot an empty chair where Jason normally sits.
Then I remember I'm early, so I'm guessing he hasn't arrived yet.
"Ah, miss Ellis, you're early for once." Mrs. Grim says, giving me a very fake smile.
I smirk at her and then go over to my seat at the back of the room and slump down in it.
As the time passes, the more anxious I am about seeing Jason. I'm glaring up at the clock now, watching every second pass. The bell already rang 5 minutes and 30 seconds ago. Where is he?
My heart skips a beat when the class door opens, but returns to its natural palpitations once I notice it's just our class councelor.
He walks over to Mrs. Grim who's writing on the blackboard and whispers something in her ear. Mrs. Grim nods and fakes another smile, then our councelor - I think his name is Mr. Brown - leaves the classroom. And unfortunately, that's about the only exciting thing that happens for the rest of the whole hour. Without Jason.
