Chapter 31: Senior Night

Zach, Monty, And I were riding to senior night together. Senior night is a lock in at the school where you get into teams of 5 and play games together and be with your class one last time before graduation. Our team was the "Our couch pulls out, but we don't" It was made up of Jess, Justin, Monty, Zach, and I.

Tony, Clay, Hannah, Alex, And Cheri made up the "Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies." We pulled into the school parking lot and I passed out our team shirts. They had our name on the front and our names on the back.

We sat at our table and talked while we waited for the night to start. "What games are we gonna play?" Monty asked. We shrugged.

"They wouldn't tell us." I said playing with my phone.

"HELLO EVERYONE." Laurie our class advisor said standing on a table. "Tonight we have some fun games for you to play. We have a Photo Scavenger Hunt, minute to win it, an obstacle course, and sumo wrestling." She paused and looked at her cards.

"We are also doing your senior awards tonight." Mr.Porter said. "We'll just hand them out to you, too keep the night flowing."

Zach had won best hair for the guys, I had won prettiest eyes, Jessica had one best role model, Zach and I won most likely to get married. Monty won an award for football.

We laughed about our awards and talked strategy on games. Our plan was to be fast and win for time.

The games were over and we won none, we tried being the fastest in the obstacle course and we fell in the three Legged race. The photo challenge we kept overthinking the clues. And minute to win it, we were trying too hard.

Our group won Best Failure. We took a group photo. This was one of the last times our group would be doing anything in this school and I started crying.

"Aww. Abby" Jessica said hugging me.

"Babe, what's wrong?" Zach said hugging me and rubbing my back.

"I'm 3 months Zach and I will be in L.A, Hannah, Justin, and Clay will be in Arizona, Jess will be in Illinois, Monty will be in Michigan, and Bryce, Chloe, Tony will be here." I wiped
My eyes. "We're all splitting up."  

"Aww, Abby. You're always the one saying supportive things like "We're only gonna be one phone call away." Monty said sitting down next to me. "We will all come back for Friendsgiving, and Christmas in Aspen."

"Yeah, And We'll be able to spend the weekend once in a while home." Zach said trying to comfort me. "Everything's gonna be okay."

"What's the Green Day song you've been playing on repeat for the past few days? Time our your life?" Monty asked

"So make the best of this test and don't ask why..." Justin started singing motioning for me to continue.

"It's not a question but a lesson learned in time, it's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life..." they smiled at me.

"It's our song, okay?" Jessica said rubbing my back. "You ever feel sad or need a pick me up, sing this song." I smiled at her. 

"You guys are the best." We group hugged.

"I heard Green Day, And now a group hug...what about us?" Hannah said coming over with Clay and Tony. 

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right, I hope you had the time of your life!" We all sang together. In that moment I was so happy to be with my friends, we were an unbreakable group.
