Chapter Two

I wake up to someone screaming in my ear.

"EVELYN!!! EVELYN!!!!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!!!"

I grumble and slowly open my eyes to see Keith in my face. "Ah!"

Keith grins and sticks his tongue at me. "Sleepy bitch," he says.

"What the hell, Keith?!" I yell and try to grab him, but he springs away just in time.

My mom comes around and sees us being stupid.

"Keith and Evelyn! Get out of the car, now!" she says.

''Where are we?" I ask groggily.

"We stopped at a restaurant. Your dad went to see how long the wait is,"

I get out of the car and look around. It's one of those places where you get out of the highway and into a little resting spot. I spot the restaurant a few meters away. It says DAVE'S BBQ. Huh?

''What's DAVE'S BBQ?" I ask, confused. I scan the list of restaurants I knew in my head, but none of them read DAVE'S BBQ.

"I don't know what it is, but I love barbecue!" Says Keith.

I frown. BBQ is not really my favorite food in the world, but God, was I hungry.

Dad comes back at that moment. He has a smile on his face and I assume that's good.

"No wait today!" He says cheerfully. "Only the best smelling BBQ I've ever smelled!"

I roll my eyes. Didn't BBQ all smell the same? To me it did.

"Dad! Why did you have to pick barbecue? You know I don't like it." I protest.

Keith is texting the day away. He looks up and says, "BBQ is GOOD, butt face!"

"KEITH!!! How many times have we told you not to call your sister names?!?!?" Dad says loudly. Mom shushes him so other people won't hear.

Where are we? I think to myself. "Where are we?" I ask out loud.

''DAVE'S BBQ. Duh," Keith mutters. "Only a dumbo would not know that."

I ignore him. "Mom! Where are we? I mean the STATE!"

"Honey, quiet down. And I think we're in New York, just not in New York City yet."

My stomach does a flip flop. We're almost there. Almost to a new life, a new home, new everything.

Soooooo, did u like it? I'm sry it was short, but what can you do? Nxt chappie is about them talking. Pretty boring, but she needs to explain her dream. Don't get mad! Oh and pleasy weasy check of my other books Wolf and The Chaos Era. Even tho I didn't publish them yet. Lol. Well look out for them anyway. DAVE'S BBQ is a freaking good restaurant!!!
