Greyson PoV

Gasping, I woke up drenched in sweat. I had another nightmare of my parents dying, this time to the hands of orcs. 100 years later and their deaths still haunt me. If I could find out who killed them maybe it would give me closure. Alek and I had exhausted all of our resources back then to try and find out what happened but nothing solid ever came out of the investigation. I laid back down next to Fae. Tears welled up in my eyes. Emotions that I have hidden for so long are seeping out of me because of her. I know I have to face the fact of my parents deaths eventually but it wasn't a good time now. Not ever. I want to tell Fae what is going on in my mind but she has enough to worry about. I can occasionally feel surges of anxiety flow through her whenever something stresses her out. I felt it happen yesterday, wherever she had been.

I stroked her hair, lifting pieces of it away from her face. I leaned close to kiss her but the warning bells startled me.

I shook her awake. "Fae. Faelyn! Get up we have to hurry."

"Ugh can it wait?"

I didn't have time for this. I jumped out of bed and carried her out into the main hallway.

"Gresyon whzat going on?"

"Shh. Just go back to sleep."

I sprinted with her in my arms down to my room and threw the door open. Alek was standing there looking worried.

"Where have you been, brother? The guards are gathering, orcs were spotted a mile away, armed to the teeth!"

"I had to move Fae. I'm ready to go."

I sat Fae down in my bed and whispered in her ear, "I love you." Alek and I rushed out of the room and I locked the door behind me.

"Do we have details? How many?"

"Not sure. I came up here as soon as I heard to come and warn you."

"Where are the guards?"

"Everyone is meeting on the walls."

"Alright. You go round up as many people as you can to fight and I'll start command."

He nodded and we parted ways. I ran through the castle and climbed out a window to cross over the roof to the main gate. As I arrived, people were starting to undress to shift.

I ascended the very top of the wall. Someone shouted, "Alpha Greyson is here" and they started to gather at my feet.

"How many orcs are coming this way? Somebody brief me on the situation."

My Omega, Xenia stepped up. "Alpha, there is estimated 75 to 100, well armed and moving stealthy. The battalion should almost be here by now. They have heard our warning bells and are diverting their forces to surround the city."

I nodded. They were devious, that was for sure.

"Listen up. I want everyone in their squads. We outnumber them two to one. This should be won, quick and easy. Squads one through three to the east, four through seven west, and eight through eleven to south. The rest of you, stay with me. Everyone watch each others backs. Think of this as a warm up for your training evaluations!"

A few laughed and everyone started shifting. I tore off my clothes and shifted as well.  Jumping off the wall, I stood ready in front of the main gate. With my wolf's enhanced night vision I saw orcs in the distance, running through the forest. I growled and let out a howl, signaling my team to charge. An orc charged up to me wielding a jagged knife. I jumped on him and tore at his armor to get to his jugular. He wildly stabbed at me so I pushed him to the ground on his stomach. Unable to swing at me he tried to push himself up but I tore into his jugular. Blood spurted into my mouth and all over me.
