I groaned in Greyson's arms , writhing from pain. It was like my body was being shocked over and over again. Sweat drenched me and I panted like I had just run a mile. I curled up in a fetal position in Grey's lap and cried. His hand covered my forehead.
"You are so hot. Just try and relax the doctor will be here soon."
My teeth clenched. "Don't fucking tell me to relax you have no idea what kind of--ugh-- pain I'm in!" My fists clenched so hard I felt as though my palms would bleed. My vision became spotty and my eyelids felt so heavy. "I'm, I'm going to pass out. G-Grey--
"I'm here. And so is the doctor." He nodded at her standing in the doorway to come in.
"How long has she been like this?"
"Just a few minutes we were...in the middle of mating and she suddenly became ill."
"Here, lie her out flat on the floor."
I felt my body being jostled but I couldn't move anything. The pack doctor looked me over carefully poking and prodding my shivering torso.
"How long ago did you mark her?"
He scratched his head. "Umm a day or so ago."
"She shouldn't be changing so fast, something's wrong."
"What do you mean wrong?!" He roared. "You better fucking fix her right now!"
"A-Alpha please. Its just that this has never happened before. We didn't know if she was even going to change this could just be her body rejecting the serum its just too early to tell!" I heard Greyson's low growl echo the room. His heavy footsteps shook the room as he paced around. "At this point I don't think there is anything we can do except wait and see if she can fight this."
Someone picked me up and laid me onto the bed. The softness was so comforting. My body became numb and I felt myself drift. Blackness enveloped me, covering my body and mind in a sheet of bliss.
Greyson POV
I waited by her side for days. I held her hand as her body trembled in pain, caressed her cheek as tears flowed from her closed eyes. "Fight, Fae. I know you are strong. You are my Luna, the love of my life, my soul mate. I know you can do this. Know that I will always be by your side until my dying breath." I kissed her damp forehead and clutched her close. More days went by but she was still the same.
"Doctor, how much longer can she endure?"
"I'm sorry Alpha but I have no answer. This is a battle she must fight herself."
"This is my fault. What have I done?!" I cried out. I just wanted to make her mine, to mark her as my own. A proclamation to the world that we were one. But now she suffered, barely breathing beside me. And so I sat with her still, hoping she would win her fight with death.
I was woken from a bloodcurdling scream.
"Fae!?" I jumped off the bed and watched as her torso began to twist and contort itself into inhuman shapes. Her screams continued as bones bent and cracked. "Fae you're shifting! Just let it take over you, don't fight it!" Her cries quieted and finally her shift was complete. I backed away from the bed as she looked around. She growled menacingly and I lifted my hands up in defense. "I know you are overwhelmed. Just...try to take it all in slowly." Her nostrils flared as she took in the new smells. Her ears twitched an eyes darted around. She pawed at the bed whined. I smiled and held my arms open. "I've missed you. Hello beautiful." She hesitantly jumped off the bed and walked towards me. I embraced her warm fur and held her close. I loved her scent and soft, chocolate fur. She sat between my legs and I held her, my face all smiles. She had won, becoming the first of her kind. Her head rested against my chest and I heard her faint breaths as she slept. I carried her back to the bed and snuggled close, finally sleeping peacefully for the first time in a long time.
