Downstairs I looked for Alek but I couldn't find him anywhere. I did have one other friend, Ari. She would surely know who that woman was! Exiting the castle, I walked quickly towards the temple. The city stood quiet, event the market was empty. Everyone was probably in their homes, tending to the sick and wounded.
I popped in the temple doors and made my way to Ari's office.
"Psst Ari its me, Fae. Are you in there?" The door opened a crack, her eyes peeking through.
"Oh! Fae! Sure come on in. I wasn't expecting you to be here, what a nice surprise."
"Yes, sorry to come back so suddenly. I was wondering if I could ask you something?"
"Come on in! Tea?"
"Absolutely." I took my cup and sat in my spot by the fire.
"So whats up? You look worried again."
"Umm well maybe. I saw this woman hanging around Alpha Greyson. Do you know who she could be?"
She mulled for a moment. "Well lots of women flock around him. What did she look like?"
"Hmm. Blonde-ish hair, um tall and muscularly built?"
"Oh, that sounds like Omega Xenia!"
"W-what is her relationship with him?"
"Ah I don't know the specifics but I believe they court on and off. You know us werewolves are very sexual creatures. Many of us court one another until our mate comes along. Some mates even have open relationships."
"I-I see." I sipped my tea, trying to hold in my tears the best I could.
"Fae, are you worried about Alpha Greyson?"
"W-what! I don't even know him, really."
She smiled. "Never lie to a werewolf, Fae. I can smell the bullshit!"
I choked on my tea. "Ugh fine, yes I am worried."
"He is our Alpha. He is strong and will pull through this, don't you worry. Why don't you go pray for a bit? I'll close my door and give you some privacy."
"Good idea. Thank you for listening to me, again. You know I'm staying in the castle. You can come visit anytime!"
"I don't get up there much, that sounds like a good idea. I'll see you later then?"
"Sounds good, see you Ari!"
I closed her door and made my way to the altar.
Please, moon goddess. Make Greyson well again. I know now that I cannot live without him and only you can make him better. I only ask for him, nothing for myself.
I sat up and headed back to the castle. As I glumly walked down the dirt path, white petals flowed in the wind. White petals, probably from a rose. They were so beautiful..white..rose! That's it! The rose I got the other night was sent by the goddess to save him! I sprinted back to the castle with all my might and ran up to my bedroom. I grabbed the flower off my bed and dashed down to the kitchen.
"Gretta, Galenta! Anyone?!" I called but no one answered. I flung the kitchen cabinet doors open, frantically searching for a kettle. I found one and filled it with water, setting it over the fireplace. I quickly plucked the petals off and placed them in the hot water. As soon as the kettle started screaming I poured the tea into a cup and ran back upstairs to Greyson's room.
I tried the door, it was still locked. I knocked furiously yelling for someone to let me in. The same girl as before opened it.
