I sat down in my room at a desk by the window. Rummaging through the desk I found some paper and ink. I decided to write to mother first since she was probably worried the most.
Mother, I know I promised to write you every week but some unfortunate things have happened. Eldar and I were attacked outside the Faerie forest and have been separated ever since. If he has come home or tried to contact you, tell him I am safe and well in Lycandor. I have a confession to make, and I know you will not approve but I must follow my heart. I have fallen I love with Alpha King Greyson and I have agreed to marry him in one month. I cannot explain my reasoning, only that he and I are destined to be together. Please understand that I know what I am doing and I will never regret anything. I understand if you do not want to come to the wedding. Love, Faelyn
She will be so angry. If she cannot accept our marriage I don't know if I would be willing to give up my title for him. I always thought I had to become queen but maybe I didn't have to. I love my people but mother will be queen for a long, long time. There was no rush for me to take over her duties. She has the council and advisers to help her. She's a pretty tough, independent person though I doubt she needs help from a bunch of old, wrinkly men.
I need advice. There's only one person who knows my heart better than I do, Keya. I missed her so much. I haven't made a single friend here and sure, Greyson was comforting but I needed some best friend time.
Dear Keya, I miss you so much. A lot has happened since we parted ways and there is only so much I can fit on a messenger sparrow. I need you to come visit as soon as possible so I can fill you in on the details. I am planning on getting married in one months time and I hope that you can make it to the wedding. I hope you can come early so I can catch you up on my incredible life. Your friend forever, Fae.
I rolled up the letters and tied them with string. Hopefully it would only take a day or two for them to arrive in Saeitryn. I needed to find out where the sparrow post was so I could deliver my important letters. I headed down to the main entrance of the castle and spotted a guard.
"Excuse me, could you point me in the direction of the Post?"
"Ah Princess Faelyn it is good to see you. Do you mean the Sparrows? If so, they are down past the market, to the west."
"Yes, thank you!"
I exited the castle and headed towards the market. The only time I had been down there was when Grey and I first came to Lycandor. It was late evening, the sun beginning to set in a pink, red color scheme. Despite it being late, the market was teeming with life. Children played in the streets while mothers ran after and scolded them. The air smelled delicious from various spices and meats being smoked together. As I was walking a ball landed at my feet and I almost tripped over it. A little boy ran over and grabbed it.
"Don't squish my ball!" He took it and ran away and I presumed his mother, came up and excused him.
"I am very sorry for his behavior, Princess F-fara. He did not mean to be rude!"
I smiled at her. "Don't worry I am fine and so is his toy. That's all that matters!" She nodded and ran after her son. I really didn't like children. I felt annoyed when they were around. Maybe I sounded like an old crone but that's just the way I am. I didn't even mind that she said my name wrong, I was just happy to finally have an interaction with his people. It was strange when he said our people, I didn't feel like I was a part of them, not yet. Everyone seemed nice so far. Granted I had only met a few and only personally talked to maybe two or three.
