I groaned as Keya shook me awake. "Fae, get your lazy ass up! We have tons to do today."
"No I don't feel good. Leave me alone."
She huffed. "Whatever you are sulking about will have to wait. Your wedding is in a couple days! You should be excited!"
I sat up and looked at my lap, fumbling with my hands. "What if there isn't a wedding?"
"Why would you say that?! I see how you are with Greyson, he really loves you. You're just nervous."
"Last night we were very..intimate and he just kicked me out! I felt awful when I went to bed. I don't know what I expected but him making me go to my room wasn't not it."
"You're so sensitive! I'm sure there is a reason for whatever he did. Now get dressed and lets go have some fun!"
I sighed, got dressed and then headed down to eat some breakfast. My stomach twisted when there was no sign of Greyson around. I poked at my eggs and ate a few bites while Keya filled me in on the details of her night. "..and these werewolves have such fit bodies! I think I will stay here for awhile after the wedding. There is a lot of wilderness and terrain to explore!" I rolled my eyes. The only terrain she would be exploring was somebody's bed.
"Come on, lets go find someone so we can start planning the ceremony." I nodded and we headed off. We found Galenta down the hall and she told us to go downtown. People were already starting to prepare things for the celebration and we would find some council members who could help us.
Downtown was bustling. People ran around, carrying wreaths and other décor while others had begun to prepare the feast. We found a lady barking orders and walked over.
"Oh!" She cried. "You must be our Faelyn! It is so lovely to finally meet you. I am Elena. I am in charge of our little event going on here. Come come, you must help me pick out the things you want!" She grabbed my hand and led me and Keya to a building where there were tons of tables, chairs, and decorations. She gave me tons of options and Keya helped me narrow down the list. I picked out everything from tablecloths to plates. She warned me that everything would be outside but the weather should be pleasant. I felt a little better after picking out what I wanted but I still felt glum. I think Elena sensed it and took my hand. "Come with me, sweetie. There is somewhere I want you to see." We went outside and headed towards the direction of the temple. Instead of going straight we went right, down a shady, wooded path. We neared a partial clearing and my heart fluttered. The trees were decorated with white flowers and a small stage sat by a creek. Logs were positioned like pews in a church as seats. Light shone through the trees, illuminating a path to the stage.
"Its..beautiful." It was so quaint and simple, yet breathtaking.
"You and Alpha Greyson will stand on the stage while the pack sits in front. Elder Alois will perform the ceremony and after the feast will begin." I pictured myself and Greyson on the stage, holding hands while the pack watched. My heart fluttered nervously, thinking how many people will be there. She let me mosey around for a bit and then we headed back to the warehouse. Keya was helping organize things, counting plates and such. I went over and helped, throwing myself into the work to distract my frazzled mind.
After countless hours I stretched and cracked my neck. Who knew a wedding was so tiring. My stomach growled and Keya glanced over. "Dinner time, huh?"
"Hmm, I guess I could go for a snack."
"Probably more than a snack, you hardly ate two bites of your breakfast!" We headed back to the castle and just ate in the kitchen. There was still no sign of Greyson. I was really starting to get upset so Keya took me up to my room. She helped me take a warm bath to calm my nerves but it didn't help.
"Fae you need some sleep. I know you're upset but I am sure you will see him tomorrow. He's probably just busy like we were today." I dried my hair with the towel and flopped on the bed. She patted my back and wished me sweet dreams.
I laid there for hours. I stared into the blackness, my anxious thoughts racing through my head. I couldn't take it anymore. I walked to his room and stood in front of the door. I felt small facing the huge, heavy wooden door. I raised my hand to knock but I stopped myself. What if he wasn't even inside? I slid my back down against the door, silently crying. Why didn't he want to see me? I realized for the first time I missed him. I...loved him. Had I even told him that?
After awhile the tears stopped flowing. Maybe I was just overthinking the whole situation. But why hadn't I seen him all day? It seemed like he was avoiding me. I'd ask Alek tomorrow to see if he knew anything. I trudged back to my room and tossed in my bed all night. I woke up early, just as the sun was rising. I probably had gotten a max of 3 hours of sleep, and if that wasn't bad enough I still felt like shit about the whole fight. I got up and picked out a random dress, not even bothering to brush my hair. I already felt like shit, why not look the part too?
I tried to find Greyson's office. I got a bit lost but I eventually stumbled upon it, entirely by accident. The door was open and I peeked in, only to find Alekander. He heard the door creak and glanced up from his paperwork, smiling at me. "Faelyn, come in!"
I went in and sat in one of the chairs facing the desk. I fumbled with my hands nervously. "Well I was just w-wondering where Greyson is, I haven't been able to find him--"
"Its--its complicated." His facial expression was hard to read, but it looked like he was holding something back. "I can take you to him but I'm not sure.."
"Sure of what? Don't lie to me, please. I've been going crazy and I just want to talk to him. Alek."
He sighed and stood up from the desk. "I'll take you to him. Just..prepare yourself. He hasn't been himself and I dont know how he is right now. You probably know the place, the tower?"
I nodded. It was our special place, but I had not been back since he first took me there. Alek and I walked in silence the whole way. It wasn't awkward, probably because we both had a lot on our minds. We approached the tower and went inside the small door. He ducked inside and I followed, taking a sharp left towards that room. The dungeon. I remembered the scratches and blood on the wall and I shivered. He told me to never come here if he was..like that but I needed to know he was okay.
Alek stood at the steel door and pounded on it. "Greyson, are you alright? Faelyn is here, she--she wants to see you.." He trailed off, nervously. A sickening, deafening roar came from the door. I gasped and fell backwards up the stairs.
"Get. Out. I dont want her to see me like this!" Alek looked at me and bit his lip. I stumbled up and sat against the freezing metal door.
"Please dont be mad, my love. I've missed you so much. I'm sorry for whatever I did to make you angry. I--I just want to see you again."
Silence. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I silently wished he would come out.
Slam. The door was torn open and crashed against the inside wall. I started to fall forward but Alek grabbed me and picked me up with lightning speed. I screamed in terror as he held me. He set me behind him, the only thing separating Greyson and I.
I peeked around Alek's shoulder. Tears streamed down my face as I fully comprehended what was inside the doorway.
