"I'll be back with you, I promise once all these is over, we'll be together." Delancy said to Zak and kissed him all over his face. She was about to go out of the car when Zak pulled her back "Wait."

She turned to look at him. "What?"
"Be safe out there."
She smiled at him "I will, I love you."
"I love you too." They shared their last kiss in the car, then Delancy went out running towards the house. She noticed police vans around the house. "What's happening?" she asked herself.

She was about to go inside the house when she heard her name. "Delancy." She turned and saw France walking towards her.
"Hi, nice to see you. What's going on?"
"Avery called us, she confessed her crime and you're the only person everyone is waiting for, you saw my mail didn't you?"
Her face turned sad "Yes, I saw it." She looked at the direction she came from, she wished Zak had followed her. "I'll go inside now."

She opened the door and went inside the house, Avery saw her and stood up. "My dear." She ran to hug her daughter. Delancy saw her mother cry for the first time real, she allowed her mother to hug her while tears ran down her cheeks. "Mother, Why?"

"I'm so sorry." Avery cried more and hugged her tightly.
"Mum," she faced her mother. "Why did you do it, I need explanations. EXPLAIN TO ME WHY YOU KILLED MY FATHER."
Avery burst into tears as she heard her daughter's outburst.
"Sit, I'll explain to you, I'll tell you everything." Jonas came out of the room. "Delancy, you're here?"

"Jonas sit too, you were asking why I did it, here's the reason."

Jonas sat beside Delancy and held her hand. "It happened a day before the carnival, six years ago. I went to your father to surprise him, I brought his favourite food for him to eat. I was about to open the door when I heard voices."

*Flashback*

"Send this gifts to my other daughter, Kelsey and give this to her mother for Kelsey's birthday tomorrow."
"Okay Sir." She heard the other voice.
"Tell her mother I'll be there tomorrow, and send all my love to them." Avery heard her husband, James say.

Tears wetted her eyes, she rested on the wall for support. Her dear husband has another woman and they have a daughter too. Avery ran out of the office place and drove home, almost colliding with a vehicle on the way.

She cried herself till she slept off. She woke up hours later and started asking herself what she had done wrong. She got up from the bed and straightened up.
She went downstairs and saw Delancy doing her homework. "How was school dear?"

"It was okay, I went up to your room and I saw you sleeping and now your eyes look swollen. What's wrong mum? It's like you've been crying." Delancy said.
"No, it's nothing. I was just tired and my swollen eyes must be from the sleep." Avery sat beside her daughter.
"Okay mum."

Not long after, James Wright came home. "Hello family." "Hi dad." Delancy ran to hug her father while Avery just sat thinking if she should pretend or make everything obvious. She chose the latter and started playing games on her phone, games she wasn't interested in at the moment, trying to ignore James.

James looked at his wife and walked to her, "My Ava, what's for problem?"
She frowned at him and wanted to yell but she remembered Delancy was in the room. "I need to talk to you, really important." she left the living room for her bedroom.

Few minutes later, James came to join her. "What's wrong my dear, tell me?" He tried to hug her.
"Don't." She stopped him. "All I need is for you to tell me the truth, was everything I heard you say at your office true?"
"What did you hear? I don't understand what you're talking about."
"Don't play dumb with me, is it true that you have a daughter with someone else? A daughter named Kelsey?"

James stood dumbfounded. How did she know?, he thought. "Ava," he called. "It's true, I'm really sorry. Everything happened so fast, it was two years after we had Delancy. You traveled to Panama and I went out with friends, I don't know how but the woman got pregnant and I didn't have the courage to tell you."

Tears filled Avery's eyes, "Fifteen years James, Fifteen years and you hid this from me. I hate you." She ran out of the room and went to the garage. She got up his car and started tampering with the brakes. She cried as she broke down beside the car.

She got up and realized what she had done with the car, but she didn't worry as she knew James always check the car every morning. He would notice the brakes and not use the car. She was angry at him but she doesn't  want him dead at least not anymore.

The next day, Delancy ran downstairs from her room holding a bag of costumes. "Mum!"
Avery stood up, "What's wrong, what happened, are you hurt?" Delancy laughed "Mum, it's nothing. Dad bought me these costumes, he said he'll be taking me to a carnival today." She showed her mother the bag.
To see his second family, Avery thought. "Where's your dad?"
"He's outside, Checking the car."
"Tell him you're going nowhere, we're staying in this house together."

Delancy whined "No mum, I really want to go. I haven't seen the park before and a carnival would be fun."
"No, you aren't leaving this house young lady."
Delancy frowned and ran outside. Avery sighed and sat down. I won't allow him to take my daughter to meet his second family, she thought. Why would James do something like this? What did I do to him, I never cheated on him. She allowed the tears in her eyes to flow freely.

She was jolted out of her thoughts by the sound of the car, she rose to her feet and went outside. But the car was gone before she got outside. "Delancy disobeyed me, she'll get it from me when she comes home."

"Hello... Yes, it's Avery Wright... What?... What hospital... I'm on my way." Avery ran out of the house and drove immediately to the hospital where she heard her husband was dead.

*End of flashback*

"That's what happened." Avery whispered. "But mum, you blamed me for his death, for the past six years all I've heard from you is how I caused my father's death."
"Yes." Avery cleaned a drop of tears from her eyes. "I blamed you because if you had listened to me, if you had not told him you checked the car, the accident might have been prevented."
"Yeah, part of that is my fault. What about Aunt Morti?"

"She worked at the neighbors house before and she saw me tamper with the brakes. She threatened to tell the police if I don't pay her."
"Oh-"
"I really regret what I did and I'm really sorry for blaming you all these years baby." Avery stood up and went to the door. "I'm going now, I'll pay for my crime."

Delancy furrowed her brows "Pay? Is that why you called the police. No mum, you didn't intend to kill him."
"I did but I changed my mind too late, bye and don't bail me out." Avery took her handkerchief and cleaned her face, then she went out.
"Mum." Delancy cried and tried to run after her but Jonas held her back. "Come on." He took her to her bedroom.
