Kathe's POV

Here in the classroom, the usual noise buzzed in my ears. Chatters of bees everywhere, some laughing while the others are just telling stories as if the one they are talking to were in the next village. It's just been two weeks since school started but everyone already made their own group of friends.

While I was here, in my place, in the back beside the window, reading my book that got me hooked ever since I started reading the 2nd chapter. It was enchanting how a girl could fall inlove with a boy in her dreams who actually existed in real life and was actually her classmate for a few years now. How can she not know?

I smiled in my book at how the guy actually started to approach her, surprisingly having the same dreams as her.

"Hey, Kathe... Do you wanna have lunch with us?" One girl approached me with two smiling faces behind her. If I was not mistaken, their names were Seoyoon, Christine and Nikki.

"I don't want to hang out with her anymore, mom! She's so boring! She doesn't even talk. How can I become friends with her?!"

"But she's already your friend right?"

"No. I just pretend. Besides, I'm scared of her eyes too. Not only is she hard to talk to, she's also quiet and intimidating. Can I not hang out with her anymore?"

"But you have to. She's the daughter of the principal and that's the only reason why you're in such a prestigious school you know!"

"...Kathe?"

"I'm. I'm sorry... I. I don't think I'll eat today... I'm not feeling well. B.But thanks for the invitation." I smiled up at her and she nodded with a smile.

"Hey I tried okay?" I heard her whisper to her friends, not noticing they were still in my earshot.

I looked at the playground of the elementary pupils where I used to have actual conversation with a person who didn't talk to me for my mom's favor, but I don't blame them either.

My mom has always persuaded students to actually talk to me and befriend me because I hardly talk to anyone. I never had the guts to and she just wanted to help, not knowing that her helping actually made things worse. It made me more scared to have friends, only to be stabbed in the back and just be used.

You know, you should smile more.

It was this sentence that actually gave me the courage to smile again. He was the only one who could do it after the encounter of over hearing my first friend's conversation with her mom back in first grade.

"Look out!"

Just in time, I leaned back and the soccer ball bounced off the window, down the grounds.

"My bad! I'll get it!" Jungkook, one of my classmates said.

"Yah! What do you have to say first, you rascal!" Taehyung shouted after him.

"M.mian Kathe ssi!" He said before running off.

"Hey, we're sorry about that." Jimin said, approaching my table.

"I.its okay." I said, smiling nervously.

I hardly get friends because I'm too scared to talk to people, and I hate the fact that I'm scared.

"Hey, we should go down. Annyeong Kathe!" Taehyung smiled, waving at me as he draped his arm around Jimin's shoulder.

"A.annyeong." I bowed slightly before going back to my reading.

"You still haven't changed." I heard a low voice say. I look up only to find Jimin and Taehyung smiling at me.

Who said that?
