"No, Patrick don't! I was just joking around! I don't even go to the fucking junkyard! No! Stop!"

Eddie's blood boiled as he struggled against Henry. He wasn't going to just watch as these assholes hurt his friend. The one person that tried to help him. Eddie knew he must've looked frightening and mysterious out in the woods alone and he was grateful to Richie for trusting him. He wasn't going to let anyone hurt him.

"Let me go!" Eddie yelled, trying to kick Henry and get to his friend. As expected, the taller bully refused to let go of him and held him tighter.

Eddies anger increased when he heard Richie cry out in pain as Patrick cut him.

"Don't you fucking touch him!" Eddie screamed, elbowing Henry in the ribs, causing him to momentarily let go of him.

He leaped over to his friend and shoved the bully off with unnatural strength. Hockstetter went flying into a tree and landing on his arm, now unconscious. Eddie didn't feel a twinge of remorse.

"You're a fucking freak!" Henry yelled, staring at Patrick's unmoving body before running off.

Eddie ignored him and knelt down beside Richie, inspecting his wound. Patrick had cut a line on his stomach, not deep enough for stitches, but deep enough for it to hurt like hell.

"Richie, I'm sorry." Eddie whispered, placing a big band-aid on the wound and noticing when Richie winced.

"It's okay, Eds. You saved me." He smiled up at the smaller boy. Eddies heart fluttered at the sight. He didn't know what it was about Richie that made him feel this way. Maybe it was because Richie had been the only person to help him. Maybe it was because Richie was cute.

Eddie frowned at the thought. Was that even right? Was he supposed to like boys? Was that wrong?

"What do you mean you like boys?" A short fat woman stood in front of him, her eyes sharp enough to pierce steel.

"I-I think I'm gay, mommy," he heard himself say.

The woman stepped closer to him, her hand reaching out and gripping his wrist tightly.

"You're not supposed to like boys, Eddiebear. It's not right. It's a sin. You will like girls. Just like I've taught you. You will be normal, Edward."

Eddie felt the pain in his wrist as if it were actually there. "But mommy," he heard himself say, "I don't want to like girls. Boys are prettier."

The woman let go of his wrist and pointed to the stairs he hadn't noticed before. "Go to your room and take all of your pills. You are sick, Edward. I will make you better. Soon enough, you'll be back to normal."

"Eddie?" He heard a voice say. He blinked, shaking the memory from his thoughts.

"Richie." He helped his friend up, glancing around the woods nervously for any more threats. When he saw none, he smiled at Richie and brought him his bike again.
"I'll walk you home, Rich."

The taller boy smiled and the rest of the walk was uneventful except for a few stolen glances at the beautiful boy walking beside him.
