lynn woke to her body moving on her own. she wasn't anywhere she recognized either. all she could see were corn fields and a gravel path.

vicara was in control.

but how did lynn not notice? vicara must've teleported here or maeka wouldve tried to stop her.

"i see you're finally awake, dorothy." vicara laughed, setting up a mental block before lynn could take control. "i bet you're wondering where we are and how we got here."

"yes, i am actually. how did you manage to take over without me realizing?"

vicara continued walking, now approaching a cottage. "you see, the longer i inhabit your body, the more control i gain. it doesn't matter how hard you fight, it's only delaying the inevitable. at some point in the future, the part of you that makes you dorothy lynn will disappear. and i will be the last thing left of you."

lynn froze up, not even reacting when vicara reaches the cottage and knocked. she was only focused on the fact that no matter what she does, it will end in death. not just for her, but for her friends. for maeka.

she'll never get to see craig, sylvia, or her father again. she'll never get to give eleven one last hug. she'll never get to meet the girl eleven loves. she'll never get to propose to maeka. she'll never get to live the life she lost.

but vicara will.

years, she spent in that lab, wasting her days away and never even seeing the sunlight. brenner took those years from her.

and now he wants to take the rest?

the door opened and...eric answered. just the sight of his face made lynn's blood boil. not only brenner, but eric stole time from her as well, if not more. he made her believe that he loved her, that he truly cared about her.

it was all a lie.

everyone told lynn that he was bad news, but of course she didn't listen. even zale, ruler of getting drunk, partying and not giving two fucks, told her to abandon ship.

and she still didn't listen.

how obvious was it that eric was using her? if anything, all of this is lynn's fault. if she had only seen what was happening, maybe things would be okay. maybe vicara wouldn't even exist.

"vicara?" eric asked hesitantly, opening the door a bit wider. "your eyes are mixing. i'm not going to let you in if there's even the slightest bit of purple in them. i don't want to deal with dorothy right now."

vicara sighed and turned around, putting her fingers to her temple.

a searing pain engulfed lynn abruptly. she left like all she could see and feel was bright white light. she felt hot, like she was laying in the sun for hours. her hearing started to become fuzzy but she forced herself to at least keep that sense. she needed to know what they were going to talk about. she wasn't going to let vicara get an advantage.

"...put....blockade...no....dorothy..." vicaras staticky voice played in her mind. she heard a door creak and feet shuffling into the cottage.

"did...kill....yet?" eric's ole voice echoed in her head, making her flinch at the volume and anger.

"was...prevented....try....different.."

"tr-....har-....fucking....get..." their voices jumbled up making lynn want to scream in frustration.

"ed-......not....dorothy....purple.." lynn saw black, the hearing started completely going out from her ears. she couldn't hang on any longer, the pain became too much and the last thing she heard vicara laughing.
