PART II

As my feet land, the stones grit against each other. I finally reach the point where I had started, near the playground. I spot Annie amid the crowd of screaming kids and make my way to her. As soon as she sees me she calls out to me, "Push me! Push!"

I am still breathing heavily and sweating like crazy, but I get behind her and shove her swing seat forward. She squeals in delight, maybe being overwhelmed with joy is the only way to pass time for kids her age.

"Hey do you like pizza?" she says, while she is midair. I look around to see who she is talking to. She asks again, so I answer,"Yeah I do."

"Are you hungry?" she asks.

As a matter of fact I'm starving I did not have any breakfast and in my hurry I kind of missed lunch too, but what does she mean are we ordering pizza for dinner tonight or something.

"I am, so should we go now?" I say.

"No not yet, we leave when I say so." she says. And I continue pushing her.

About three minutes later, she says, "Okay, now we can leave."

I give the swing a final push, and it soars high, I look up at her and the sunlight gets in my eyes. It blinds me enough that I completely miss when the tiny devil jumps off the swing midair and lands a few feet away. I am still looking for her with blotches of black blocking my vision when the empty swing oscillates backward and strikes my stomach. I hunch down and wince. Out of nowhere Annie yells way too loudly, "LETS GO!!"

What the hell is wrong with this person? I am right here why are you yelling? I let go of my stomach and straighten up. She runs to me and grabs my hand, pulling me along with her out of here like she is in some sort of hurry. But I quietly get dragged along. She is some sort of hyper energetic bouncing ball. She just doesn't hold still. Like she has too much energy rushing through her and has very little time.

Once we are out we cross the main road and get to the other side, the houses line the streets which branch from the main road. I recall coming to the park from the street a further away from the entrance. But Annie drags me into the street right across from the park entrance.

"Aren't we in the wrong street? Isn't it the next one." I ask.

"It's a short cut." She simply says.

How in the world talking the wrong street a short cut? She stops pulling at my hand and starts to walk along side me. She barely reaches my waist. We are only about halfway down the street, when I see a black Honda, get ahead and park a little distance away from us. Nobody gets out of it though.

We keep walking. Nothing happens while I walk along the length of the car, but before my foot lands next to the passenger side door of the car, it swings open and a sharp pain rises in my side, the side close to Annie. I cramp down only slightly, and then all of a sudden Annie lunges forward with full speed, one of her hands land on my head shoving it down, and the other on my stomach. This blow makes me lose my balance immediately, the pain and confusion give me no time to retaliate. As if on que, two hands land on my waist from the care's interior pulling me into the empty space of the passenger seat. Before I know it these four hands succeed. I land in the passenger seat and barely save my foot from amputation when the door is slammed shut.
