23 • Futaba's Pyramid

8/5 Daytime

We got back from the Palace, getting closer to the Treasure, and Ann got a phone call. She stepped away for a second then came back over to us when she hung up.

"Sorry, that was the modelling agency. I have a shoot I need to go to," Ann tells us.

"Yuki, you should try modelling with Ann," Ryuji suggests with a smirk.

"That's actually not such a bad idea, Ryuji. My agency was looking for someone else, since all the others are busy and the girl I was supposed to do it with got sick. Come on, we can go right now. It'll be fun!"

"I wouldn't want to arrive uninvited"

Ann's phone buzzed and she smiled. "You won't have to, they invited you. You guys can tag along too, but we should hurry"

Only Akira, Morgana and Ryuji came with us because the others were busy. When we got to the location, the beach, I was dragged with Ann to the change rooms. After they got us in our hair, makeup and sundresses we were dragged back out to the sand.

We passed by Akira, Morgana and Ryuji and I caught Ryuji staring at me with a blush. Ann and I stopped in front of the photographer, in the middle of a lighting setup.

I followed along with what Ann was doing, doing as I was told by the photographer. An hour later we were finally done. When I stepped out of the change room I saw Ryuji waiting for me.

"You're still here?" I ask.

"Yeah, I was thinking we could go to Mementos, if you aren't too tired," he said, pushing off of the wall he was leaning against.

"Is there a reason you wanted to go to Mementos?"

He shrugged. "Training"

8/5 Afternoon

We had gone to Mementos, just like he asked, but then we ran into some problems. The Shadows started showing up more frequently and it became too much for only the two of us to handle.

Skull was about to attack another Shadow but I grabbed his arm and dragged him away to a place we could pause for a second.

"I had that Shadow!" He told me.

"Skull, could you calm down for one second? I need you to listen to me without being angry for once," I yell, getting in his face.

He blushed and shut up.

"We need to get out of here now. It's not safe"

"Watch out!"

He wasn't quick enough in warning me, meaning I got hit by the Shadow. Its claw dragged down my arm, creating a deep cut. I held my arm in pain, feeling some blood seeping through my fingers. Skull killed it and grabbed my good arm, pulling me away.

On a safe floor he grabbed some bandages and wrapped up my arm, looking up into my eyes every once in a while.

"Why don't we go get some food?" Skull suggests after finishing with my arm.

"Sure"

We went to Big Bang Burger, sitting in a booth and chatting while we ate. He spoke the most but I did answer questions he asked. When we were finished and walking home, me with my drink in hand, he spoke up.

"So, I know some of your past, but what got you into, you know, saving people?"

"I don't wanna talk about it," I grumble.

"Somebody's cranky," he joked.

"Somebody needs to shut up"

I removed the lid from my cup and tossed it in Ryuji's face. He froze in shock as I put the cup in a nearby garbage and started to walk away. I glanced behind me briefly to make sure he wasn't chasing after me but found him smiling in disbelief. I knew it was an overreaction, but it felt good to throw my drink in his face.

"That was definitely an overreaction," Dove told me.

I went to the school and made my way up to the roof, standing by the railing. I looked out at the busy city but I turned around when I heard the door open. I leaned back against the railing, my hands spread out to support myself. Ryuji walked up to me and I looked away.

"Yuki, will you listen?" He asks.

"I already told you I don't want to talk about it"

He put a hand over mine, making me snap my head to look at him, then he leaned in and tried to kiss me. I brought my other hand up to his lips but he wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulled my body closer to his, and - while I was trying not to fall over - kissed me.

I pushed him away, keeping my hand on his chest so he wouldn't try to lean back in and kiss me again. If he did I didn't know if I'd be able to stop him.

"I'm not your girlfriend, but I will be there if you need someone to talk to"

8/22 Daytime

"Late last night, it was discovered that someone had tampered with the hacker group Medjed's website. The site's main page now displays what is thought to be the mark belonging to the Phantom Thieves... moreso, the personal information of a Japanese man, a possible Medjed member, was illegally publicized. Medjed has yet to issue an official reply. Furthermore, their previously announced cleanse of Japan has remained unimplemented for now. Some speculate that they have taken this series of events seriously and ultimately cancelled their plan"

I turned off the tv and laid my head back with a sigh. We had avoided something that would've destroyed us, but there was most likely more to come.
