6/11 Lunchtime

"Man, that detective from yesterday really pissed me off! We're some kinda threat?" Ryuji asks, punching the vending machine. "Let's see him do it, then! If someone else could help 'em, we wouldn't be doin' stuff as the Phantom Thieves to start with!"

Ann walked over to them with a bag of chips in hand, slapping the back of Ryuji's head. I remained where I was, leaning against the railing of the path with my head in a book. Although I wasn't paying attention to the book, more to the conversation.

"You're being way too loud," she said.

"Who cares? Everybody's talkin' about this stuff anyways. It'd just be more suspicious if we were whisperin'. Hey, you really just gonna keep eatin' and eatin' those things all by yourself!? Gimme some!"

"Sorry, just ate the last one"

"You guys are too laid back. The police are getting involved now, you know," Morgana told them.

"So, you think it's true? We'll be okay if we keep doing this... right?"

"We can't let the cops scare us out of being Phantom Thieves," Ryuji says.

"But what about that weird guy from Madarame's Palace? Isn't there a lot we don't know?"

A girl with short brown hair took a picture of them, making their conversation stop abruptly. They all looked over at her in shock. She was the student council president, Makoto Nijima.

I chose that moment to walk away, but I didn't know that I caught the eye of the blond boy being confronted with his friends by Makoto.

6/11 After School

"Ah, what a nice smell..."

I froze on the spot, recognizing the voice as Ann's. I was currently at a café, there for some great tasting coffee I had heard about, and it was so far out of the way I wouldn't have to worry about running into people. Or so I thought.

"This place looks so outdated... I can't say I hate it though," Ryuji said.

"People refer to that as retro," Yusuke corrects.

"Hmm? Who're they?" Sojiro, the boss of the café, asks the group.

"Hello!" Ann greets cheerfully.

"A girl too?"

"This guy had really helped us a lot lately"

"Heh, I bet you're the ones doing all the helping"

"No, really, he's been great"

"Huh... sit down. This round'll be on the house. You're helping though"

I watched from the corner of my eye as they all sat at the bar, except for Akira who helped make the coffee. I took the chance while they weren't looking to leave. I left a bill on the counter by my empty cup and quietly walked out, except there was a bell above the door to announce whoever entered and left.

I could tell they were all looking at me, since they had all gone quiet, but I continued out anyway, mumbling a quiet thank you for the coffee.

"Hey!" Someone shouted after me.

I turned out of the alley that led to the café, hoping I'd lose whoever was chasing after me in the crowd, but there was no crowd at the moment. A hand met my shoulder, stopping me. I turned and waited for Ryuji to talk.

"Why do I keep seeing you everywhere?"

"Coincidence," I mumble, looking at the ground.

He let me go after I spoke that word. He clearly had more questions he was going to ask but he wasn't going to ask them now.

I got home and removed my pants, the baggy T-shirt I was wearing giving me just enough coverage so you wouldn't be able to see my underwear. No one would have had the chance anyway, but Ryuji just had to barge into my room.

He blushed but hurriedly grabbed my arm and dragged me into the closet. I could hear other footsteps starting to walk around my house.

"What the hell?" I whispered harshly.

"Shh!" He put a hand over my mouth. "Don't let them find us"

"Who?" I mumble from underneath his hand.

"The two of us locked in a closet together, people are going to talk," he says, like he were trying to keep me from prying.

"About what?" I ask, moving his hand.

"Well, normally with two teenagers locked in a confined space, something happens"

The closet door swung open and light flooded in, blinding us for a second. I blinked a couple times and saw Ann, Akira, Yusuke, and Morgana there.

"Ryuji, why'd you run into Kan's house?" Ann asks, looking like she was about to slap him for being rude.

"You were gonna stop me from gettin' the truth from her," Ryuji says. "And the door was open so I thought somethin' might've happened"

"The door was open?" Yusuke repeats.

"Yeah, like someone broke in"

Ann looked at me. "Did something happen?"

I shook my head. "Forgot to close the door," I whisper.

"That happens?" Yusuke asks.

"Sometimes the door doesn't close all the way," Ann says. "And sometimes you think you closed it but you actually didn't"

"Back on topic," Morgana says.

"Right. Kan, we need to talk to you"

I got out of the closet and sat on my bed, Ann and Morgana sitting beside me. Ryuji, Akechi and Yusuke sat on the couch.

"We found your address in the phone book," Ann explains to me. "We really needed to talk with you and you weren't answering your phone"

"It's in my bag," I answer.

"Are you Spectra," Ryuji asks.

Ann glared at him but stopped when I sighed and answered. "Yes"

"Why do you look so different?"

"I have a Palace. I'll answer questions in there," I mumble, writing down a couple words on the piece of paper.

"Yuki Kan, Hotel. Why are there only two words?" Yusuke asks.

"Location found," the app that brought us into the Metaverse said on Joker's phone.

Joker pulled out his phone and I answered Yusuke's question. "No need for more"

Joker pressed the button that led us into the Metaverse and we ended up in my Palace. We were in the lobby of a fancy and big hotel.

"Why do you have a Palace?" Skull asks me.

"Light and darkness go hand in hand. Without one there's only the other. They balance each other out perfectly. There's always one in the other, even if it's the tiniest amount. There's darkness found in light. And especially light found in darkness"

"That doesn't explain much about you," Fox says.

"My heart is broken, that's why my mask is broken, that's why I have a good side and a bad side. There's my Phantom Thieves side, but then there's my Shadow side. That's why I have one persona-"

"Hold on a sec, I saw you fighting with two, you told us two," Skull cuts me off.

"And the other is a Shadow of my persona. However my Shadow Persona is the opposite of my Persona, not the hidden desires as you've learned Shadows to be"

"How is that possible?" Mona asks.

"I just told you. My heart is broken"
