Ch.22
“You need to stop worrying, love,” George said coming up to me as I quickly put on lip balm.
I was dressed in a fuchsia strapless mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline. It had an embellished bust with a satin waistband and the mermaid skirt was tiered.
“I'm just a little worried. My fathers trying to find out when we're sneaking Harry out. I think he already knows and he won't tell me. I can't do anything to prevent it. Not to mention, I'm telling him we're engaged tonight!” he quickly kissed me so that I would stop talking.
“You'll be perfectly fine, yo ring with my other hand and you know your dad won't go too crazy. Now stay safe.” he kissed me on the forehead and I was taken away. I nervously covered the ring as I walked into the meeting room. Everyone turned to look at me, bowing their heads in respect as I took my seat next to my father.
The meeting was almost over, apparently my father hadn't wanted me there for the full meeting because he didn't want me involved in the scheming that was going on.
“You may all leave!” my dad said as I watched them quickly stand and leave the room, the door slamming shut behind them.
“Why won't you tell me?” I asked sadly. He sighed and just looked at me.
“I don't want you to get into trouble if something happens. Besides, you said you had something to tell me.”
“Yeah,” I glanced down at the ring, smiling slightly as I looked at it. “Um, George proposed,” I whispered, looking up at my dad. His eyes widened as he watched me to see if I was serious or not.
“He actually did?”
“Yeah, we're getting married,” I showed him my ring. He took my hand, lifting it up so that he could see it better.
“You really want to spend your life with him.” he said, the corner of his lip twitched upward to form a barely there smile.
“Yeah,” I said pulling my hand away and looking up at him. “I really do.”
“Your mother would be so proud and happy for you.”
“I know she would. I just wish she was here.” I gave him a sad smile.
“She is, and I know that she'll be there on your wedding day and that she'll always be watching over you.”
“What about you?” he seemed to also realize that he wouldn't be alive when this wedding took place. Most likely he would be gone when I got to walk down the aisle.
“I'll be there too, never forget that.” I nodded before getting up, knowing that my time there was done. “Stay safe, I know it's going to be hard keeping you out of trouble.”
“I always am,” I felt a rush of wind as I landed back in my room.
As soon as I entered the room, I linked arms with George. A meeting with the Order of the Phoenix was taking place and there wasn't enough time for me to change.
We hurried into the burrow and we met by the others. In the house was the whole Weasley family, Mad-eye, Tonks, Remus, Sirius, Hermione, Kingsley, Hagrid, and pretty much everyone.
“How's my wonderful soon to be sister-in-law been?” Charlie said, wrapping his arm around me as soon as I entered the house, Fred soon coming over to join us.
“I'm guessing the others already told you?” he left out a laugh as his gaze looked down at the ring on my finger.
“You didn't think my family could hold secrets from each other did you?” my lips twitched upward at that.
“No, I don't know what had ever made me believe that.”
“It's about time you actually asked her, George. Although the whole family knew this was going to happen at some point.”
“I'm not sure why I waited this long either,” George said, pulling me closer to him as the meeting began.
“Most of us will be going to get Harry,” Mad-eye began, “but some of you will be staying here.” I already knew what was going to be happening. “Molly, Ginny, and Abigail will be staying her to help if someone becomes injured.” I sighed in defeat and slumped against George, causing his grip to tighten.
“Don't act to thrilled,” he whispered in my ear.
“Oh, shut up,” I hissed back. Fred, Hermione and Ginny were trying not to smirk as they tried to listen in on our conversation.
“Look at it this way, you won't be in any danger.” I turned to him with a pout, ignoring the fact that more people were starting to discretely listen in.
“Oh hahaha, so it's fine if you get put in danger!”
“No, but at least we won't both be distracted and worrying about the other person.”
“Fine, but I'm not happy about this and if you come back injured, you're sleeping on the couch.” this time it was his turn to pout.
“Well that's not fair!” he whined.
“Oh yes it is.”
“Well, they already argue like an old married couple,” Fred said, as we looked around us to see a lot of people were watching us.
“At least we don't have to work on that part.” George said with a smirk as I hit him and turned back to the conversation, nervous about what was going to be happening tomorrow night.
“Now that we have everyone's attention. Twelve of you will be taking a polyjuice potion so that you look like Harry. This way, if You-Know-Who has found out the time this is happening, we can distract them with different Harry's so they'll have to split up.”
I had to admit that this was a pretty good idea, but I was still stuck on the fact that I wouldn't be allowed to help out with all the action. Instead I would have to stay here to help in case someone got injured. Hopefully that wasn't going to be the case, but knowing my luck, something was going to happen and I knew I wouldn't be able to have any control over it.
