Ch.27

“Are you sure you want to go?” George said as I finished packing my bags. I turned to him with a sad smile.

“Yeah, I'm the only reason some of these kids will be able to get through this year. Bad things are coming George, and I can't just ignore it.” he sighed and pulled me into a tight hug.

“Make sure you visit and see if you can get them to let me come on campus as well.” He held me close, not wanting to let me go. “Be careful.”

“I know. I love you,” I said, kissing him.

“I love you too.”

“We'll see each other soon, don't worry. I'll look after Ginny too.” he gave me a large smile.

“I know you will. You two act like sisters already.” he kissed me once more before picking up my bags.

We walked over to the fireplace, the two of us staring into the flames.

“I'll see you as soon as I possibly can,” I told him before throwing in some floo powder and gathering my bags before stepping into the flames. He gave me one last reassuring smile before I was gone.

I landed in the headmaster's office, which was now where Severus was staying. I knew for a fact that he never slept in there though, he always told me it never felt right. The room was even left the same.

“Welcome back,” Severus said as he walked into the room. “I have a feeling you won't like it here as much as you did before.” he grabbed my bags and walked toward the door, me following close behind.

“So where am I staying this year?” I asked just as we came to a stop in front of a large wooden door. “Never mind.”

“The password is Weasley,” he told me with a smirk. I raised my eyebrows, knowing he was referring to what I would hopefully soon be changing my last name to.

“What a great choice,” I said as the door swung open revealing an amazing room. “Wow.”

“Yeah. A girl by the name Elena wrote a letter saying she was a close friend of yours and would love to come decorate your room to make you as comfortable as possible. Since I knew who she was and how close the two of you are, I allowed it. Besides, I don't think your father would have rejected that.”

“True.” I looked around in awe at everything in the room.

“You might want to get ready. The students arrive in twenty minutes.” he put down the bags and left the room, closing the door as he went.

The room was a light blue color with white trimming. It was split up to look like a small living room and a bedroom. In the living room area was a wooden swing and a white sofa with red, white and brown pillows. On the floor was a brown and white floral rug. The bedroom was pretty as well.

I walked over to my closet and began unpacking before looking over my outfit. I had put on a white, one-shouldered dress that was covered in a black and white dragonfly print. I had a small leather jacket, black heels and a dragonfly necklace.

“I can do this,” I mumbled under my breath, noticing that it was past twenty minutes. This meant that everyone was in the Great Hall and that Severus was probably about to make the announcement that I would be here this school year.

I rushed down to the Great Hall and threw open the doors. Everyone was sitting down, but everyone looked frightened and no one was making a sound. They apparently knew it was better not to cross the people that were now in charge of the school.

Everyone's attention moved from Severus and our new teachers, to me. It was as if they were hoping Harry would walk through the doors, but fear replaced it as they saw me.

“Now, as you see, Miss. Abigail will be joining us this year as well. I hope you'll all treat her with respect,” he paused before adding on to his sentence. “Although, you don't have a choice. Would you like to speak?” he asked as I came to stand next to him.

He moved out of the way and I stood there looking at the crowd of worried faces.

“I'm pretty sure none of you believe that this year will be good and I realize that by the look on your face, you're all afraid of what's ahead of you. I also know that you don't trust me and that you all think of me as an evil person who will do anything possible to hurt you. You don't seem to understand that I'm the only one that can stand between you and punishment,” I said, gesturing to my dad's creepy followers behind me. “I hope you make it through this year,” I stepped down and walked calmly over to my seat.

The whole hall was silent as the food appeared and everyone dug in. No one was laughing and there was barely talking. To be honest, the whole thing was depressing without having Dumbledore sitting up here.

I finished eating quickly and excused myself from our table. As I began to head towards the door, I met Ginny's eyes. She seemed just as scared as the others, but smiled sadly at me when we made eye contact.

“We'll talk later,” I mouthed toward her as I walked out the door and began heading toward my room. I took my time, looking at all the portraits on the wall.

“She's returned,” I heard constantly as I continued walking.

“We know you're not a traitor dear,” a woman in one of the paintings said as I walked past.

“Thanks,” I said, a real smile appearing on my face.

I entered my room and closed the door behind me, making sure to lock it as well. Even though I was sure no one would come or attack me here, but I didn't feel safe here.

I had barely finished unpacking the rest of my bags when there was a knock at my door. I walked over to it quickly, and threw open the door. I was almost knocked over as the young red head jumped onto me.

“Abby!” Ginny said as she hugged me tighter, almost cutting off my breathing. She sounded panicked though, and that was what worried me.

“What's wrong?”

“I don't want to stay here. They're going to hurt us.” she pulled away and I could clearly see the fear in her eyes.

“I'm not going to let that happen Ginny. I'm going to protect you and the others no matter what.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. You're my sister and I'm never going to let anyone hurt you.”

A smile appeared on her face and she gave me another hug.

“I think I should be getting you back to your room. I wouldn't want anyone to see you wandering the walls by yourself.”

“That's for sure,” she said as we began walking through the hallways. “I'm so glad you're here.”

“I am too.”
