The Future

Yusei's pov

I keep an eye out for the dragon and warrior from before, though I have a feeling it'll be a lot more subtle than yesterday. I am pushing my bike, since it's what I use to travel time, and since it's required in the future. Being seen without it would cause an uproar.

I sense the moment they appear and turn to face them, smiling slightly.

"YOU HAVE RETURNED IN TIME. WE MUST SEND YOU ON YOUR WAY, BUT BE CAREFUL. WE WILL EXPLAIN AS YOU DRIVE. CALL UPON THE RED DRAGON."

I nod and settle on my bike, letting everyone else get on before feeling the Dragon burns on back, the familiar power spreading through my body. I lower my helmet visor and call on the Red Dragon's power, waiting for a moment, before revving the engine and racing forwards. I can feel time warping around us and soon we're in the tunnel between times.

Obviously Fate and Destiny are slowing time a little, since we don't pop out in my time immediately.

"YOUR TIME, AFTER YOU LEFT WAS FINE. WE LEFT IT ALONE AND WHEN WE CAME BACK TO IT HOURS LATER, WE COULD SEE NOTHING. NO FUTURE AT ALL. WE THINK SOMEONE IS USING YOUR FRIENDS AGAINST YOU, FOR WHILE YOU WERE MEANT TO LEAVE, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS."

"WE ARE NOT SURE IF THEY PLANNED IT OR NOT, BUT YOU CAME TO THE PAST IN MUCH BETTER SHAPE THAN WE WERE ANTICIPATING. 2 MORE YEARS WOULD'VE BROKEN YOU ALMOST BEYOND COMPARE, BUT THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. HOWEVER, WE NEED YOU TO GO THERE, SO WE MAY SEE THROUGH YOUR EYES. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS."

"ONLY CONFRONT THE BAD GUY IF YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, HERO YUSEI. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INTERFERE MUCH UNTIL WE CAN SEE THE FUTURE AGAIN. PLEASE TRY AND STAY OUT OF TROUBLE."

I nod and time speeds back up, the bike landing a bit roughly on the pavement in the new time. I glance around and nothing much has changed in this area. I spot a landmark and realize we're pretty close to the house where the others and I lived. Best check there first.

I set off at a slower speed, taking corners and other things closely, just to hear the reactions. It's nice to be able to ride my bike again. I was not able to in the past, since most of the machinery for the bike is advanced and would be easy to spot. I grin at the shouts some of the others give, bothered by the speed and tightness to some of the turns.

I can easily control this bike, but the others don't know that. I stretch one hand up, enjoying the sudden tension behind me, even as the muscles in my back get looser. It's been far too long since I've been able to just drive and relax. We get closer to the house, though I've noticed everything looks far duller than it should.

I park the bike in the garage, giving a clue that I live here, before removing my helmet. I turn to the others and notice they're all slightly pale, like they're in pain. I wince, shit, maybe the time travel messed with them. I hope not, but it might've done something to them.

"Shit, are you guys ok?"

"Fine, it's just... the future was a bit more destroyed then we thought it was. And the bonds here, they are...  infinitesimally smaller. So much so we can barely feel them. We just need time to adjust, maybe give us a day to recover?"

I smile, this is definitely something I can do. I lead them up the stairs, even Kaiba is looking pale, and then into the living room, where the couch and everything is. I grab the blankets and other things for them to lie under and cover themselves. We have few mattresses in this time period. I watch them get comfortable, before deciding to see how long I've been gone from this time.

"I wonder if they moved the calendar... No, neither of them liked knowing the date, so unless they let one of the others in or they were feeling nostalgic."
