When the lights go out [Malfoy x reader story]

A New Year

I sighed as I shook my head lightly amused. I took a place at the end of the table and suddenly everyone gathered around me even taking a place next to Draco.
"Y/n you should open the presents now!" Ron said excited. I nod happily getting the presents everyone got for me. A pink package with a big loop from Hermione. When I opened it I could see some books, some of them were at her house when I visited her and I wanted to read them as well. I smiled as I thanked her. Then there was Harrys, it was just normal paper wrapped around something. I could see Draco arrogantly rolling his eyes over the present and it's package. I lightly hit his rips with my elbow. Then I opened it. It was a small Bracelet. It had a very nice and cute looking pendant. Hermione grinned widely, she must have helped him with that. Then Ron handed me over his present. A dark green paper was wrapped around it. I smiled as I took it and opened it. It was a Quaffle. I thanked him a lot and took Lunas gift. It was a funny looking bracelet. "It is a lucky item." She calmly sang. Her voice was so relaxing. I smiled thankfully as I thanked her. Fred and George were next. They gave me their package and I opened it curiously. "It's from our shop. You can have everything gratis." They said laughing happily as they announced that in unison. "Aww I'm so happy about that, thank you!" I giggled as I took the sweets out. They were invented to skip classes. Then suddenly I remembered Dracos gift. I put it in front of me on the table and opened it. It was a Slytherin symbol ring. And the first letter of my name. I smiled at it as I put it on and gladly showed it around. Then my mother brang some cake into the room. It was another way to big one with some candles. She gave me a knife and I happily cut it while Hermione started chanting "happy birthday to you". Everyone got a peace of cake and I sat down to taste it myself likewise. It tasted heavenly. Like cherry, with some cinnamon and the cream on top was a little bit minty, but sweet. Everyone especially Ron seemed to enjoy it. He almost stuffed the whole piece at once in his mouth. When the twins started teasing him, that every girl in the room would vomit, because of him he replied that no one looked at him by now. I giggled lightly while watching the brothers when someone knocked at the door. I turned around to see the person. It was Mrs Weasley. I jumped up and ran to her, when she already hugged me and wished me a happy brithday. She handed me a present and then said she would go to find Arthur again. I nod and opened the package back at the table. It was a cute plain jacket. She must have made it herself. I loved it the moment I looked at it. Ron ruffled his nose, when I announced that it was the cutest thing ever.

We had an great evening talking, having fun, just being without any problems for a couple of hours. Only Draco. He had barely talked the whole evening. He looked sad and scared. It was as if something bad had happened. Pansy wasn't showing up in the private room all evening long. She must have been searching for us. Why wouldn't she come? Eveb though I was suspicious about her sudden change of attitude and her sudden friendliness, I still wouldn't stop her from sitting with us. I yawned as I threw myself on my bed and looked at the ceiling, remembering everything that happened today. I smiled as I looked at my ring. I was gladly wearing it on my ring finger, just like an engagement ring. Even though I was only sixteen years old now, I had thought about my future. My parents weren't to traditional, but I wasn't sure if they would choose me someone to marry. All my life I had been free, but still there were some big important rules. I needed to know how to properly dress at parties or important events. I needed to be careful when my dad caught attention of the wizard Magazins and newspapers. And I needed to respect that my parents kept things a secret. Well they thought I wouldn't know but I always knew that they had secrets. I briefly had to change clothes and get ready, before going to bed. It was nice to have genuine friends and a boyfriend that was actually pretty cute. I would have never tought that I would have been so happy in my first year in another country, but thank Merlin, it was so much of a success. I cuddled into my pillows and closed my eyes.

I hadn't seen Draco yet. Neither I had seen Crabbe or Goyle. I walked through the train trying to find an compartment with people I knew. I Dean and Seamus sitting with Some other Gryffindors. I opened the door and looked at them with a gentle smile. "May I sit here?" I asked and the nod. I took a place next to Dean and Seamus. "So how was your holiday everyone?" I asked grabbing my book.
"Was fine." Dean mumbled.
"Could have been worse I guess." Seamus answered. "Wasn't it your birthday Y/n ?" He then asked. I nod and he smiled congratulating me,  before giving me a small package. "Aw thank you, that wasn't necessary." I said as I opened it with a big smile. It was a love potion from the Weasley and Weasley shop. "Use it well Y/n." He grinned. "I will don't worry. Well I don't know what for yet, but I will surely think about it." I answered looking at the love potion.
When we arrived at Hogwards I looked at the carriage that would bring us the the castle. While getting on one of them Hermione and Ron joined Dean, Seamus and me. There was no sight of Harry.
" Where is he? "I asked and Hermione shrugged." Aren't you worried?" I added." Of course I am. "She snapped." But I trzst Harry, also he maybe already got on another carriage. "She simply answered tryingto calm down herself. I nod and leaned back.
I was sitting at the Slytherin table watching the first year's coming into their houses. A little blonde girl which actually reminded me of Draco, in one of the oicture of him which I saw, where he was about nine years old, went to the Slytherin table taking a place next to me. " So do I need to tell my blood status?" She asked sternly gazing me. I smiled at her as I simply shook my head. "Not necessarily important. Since you are a Slytherin now, everything that counts is how many points you get for our house." I answered calmly looking at her.
"Nonsense, even if getting points is important we would not want to have mudbloods here." Pansy snapped, even though she got pretty nice, she was still the same about blood. Blood was just something that kept us alive, it wasn't necessarily something we needed in our life as a status of family, but Slytherins seemed to be a but old fanshioned about that.

I can't tell her. Not now, it's too early. She will hate me if I do, but I love her so damn much. She would hate me more, if I wouldn't tell ger, wouldn't she?

Then I suddenly spotted Harry all covered in blood, which was definitely coming from his nose. I looked at Draco, but he was just staring at his plate. He didn't even noticed Harry. Maybe this time it wasn't his fault. I tried to make eye contact when the voices in my head swapped over my thoughts.

I should study hard this year!

Maybe Pansy likes me?

Eww who would like Pansy? I mean as girl. She was somehow to much for me, in her public of showing.

What if I die without telling her? She would hate me, I mean my reputation is already a bad sign in our relationship but now that I took my father's place, it can't be helped? Right? Oh dear Merlin just let her stay safe and out ot this.

I wasn't sure if it was really the one I thought it was, when I heard these voices but, I was pretty sure I knew the owner of it. The dinner suddenly appeared and I decided to remember these words, before starting to eat. It was delicious. As every year, but to be honest muggle food, they usually ate often was still something I could eat everyday in a row. After dinner I tryed to catch Harry before he could leave the hall.
When he was about to leave, I grabbed his arm pulling him along with me.
