Time had passed. Things had changed. First of all, Chase learned how to walk again. Though being in a wheelchair, he did grow taller. It may have been difficult in the beginning but he beat all the odds that was held against him. Chase felt good being able to walk, he felt the need to start appreciating his legs. The younger boy's hair grew back but still was missing an eye.

The challenging part was trying to work with one eye. Chase had to go therapy to able to learn the basics of sight. Also, he had to clean it everyday so it wouldn't get infected. His parents gave him a black eye patch that he wore everyday to keep his hideous scar away underneath it. His sisters teased him about being pirate, he found it funny.

His life was becoming some what normal again but doesn't mean things stay the same. Him and Cynthia broke up. She told Chase that she was pregnant and was in love with Anthony Reeves. This made him not trust anyone. Anthony and her try to reach him but he simply ignored them. After that, he hasn't spoken to them since. He kept to himself, only really talking to Griffin and new friends like Yousif Sabbah.

Chase started singing which him helped cope in a lot of ways. If he felt the need to hurt someone because he was angry, he would just pick up his guitar and play all night. He let Noen be the first to watch him.

Him and Noen were closer. It's funny how life works. Just a year ago, he was shoving Noen in lockers and making him his punching bag. Now, he listens to whatever Noen's says and respects him very much. Whenever someone mentions Noen to him, he says "my best friend" because it was true. The older boy was a support system in recovery and helped him see a more kinder vision of him that he became.

They never really talked about the accident or what happened that night. It was left unsaid. Although, Chase didn't like when Noen and Jaden started dating. He knew he told Noen himself to find someone better but Jaden was not the one for him. He thought. He just faked a smile as he thirdwheel with them on dates. Chase's stomach would turn upside down when seeing them kiss. It didn't feel right but he didn't say anything when Noen would look at him.

Anyways, their relationship wasn't a problem for him anymore. It was devastating for Chase when Noen told him he was moving. His parents had gotten a job in New York city only for a year to work at some artsy studio for high end brand. It was hard for them both to leave each other after what they been through. Chase didn't cry unlike how Noen did. Both of their parents had to separate them because they would not let go of each other.

"I'll miss you" Chase said in a low tone. He told the truth. He laid his head on top of Noen's , already missing him. "I'll miss you too" Noen hugged him tighter. "I'll write you and take care of snuggles" Noen suggested. Snuggles was the kitten from the accident. It was hard seeing the blonde haired boy go inside the car and driving off. It was hard not to run after him like he should've done.

As promise, Noen did write him. They wrote several letters to each other as time grew.

Dear Chase,

New York City is very big and scary. It's more busy than California. I'm a bit jet lagged. The flight attendant was very nice. She said she liked my hair and stuff. By sides that, I'm adjusting to the move. We live on the upper west side of manhattan. I feel like I'm in gossip girl. I haven't made any friends yet though it has been a day. I'm happy and sad. I'm happy to start a new beginning but I'm sad that I'm not able to see you or Kevin and Avani. How are you? You haven't answer my calls and is Snuggles okay?

Chase read it in a smile. Writing a letter a couple days later.

Dear Noen,

I'm holding up okay. Snuggles is being taken care of. She's seems to miss you too. This is my first time taking care of a cat. Luna and her fight quite a bit haha. It's weird because my mom called me a cat parent. Marlena and Karissa seems to like her a lot. They're always playing with her. You'll make friends soon because you're you.
