Sewa sighed as she arrived at her door from what had to be the weirdest night of her life. She rested her head on it, recalling the events that occurred earlier.

"Would you mind if I... kissed you?" he asked, staring intently at her lips. She licked them as she placed her hands on his chest, feeling his heart palpitating in his chest.

She was pretty sure her heart was racing too. She did want him to kiss her. But what would that mean for both of them? They would never have a label for their relationship and now what they were about to do would complicate things even further. And what would happen to her after he goes back to normal? She would be left alone and might probably be the only one out of the two of them to remember this.

She had to say no. She just had to. But no matter how hard she tried, no words would come out of her mouth. It simply wouldn't work. So she stared at his lips, waiting.

He smirked a little. "I'll take your silence as a yes then," he said and dipped his head. Then his phone rang.

She groaned in frustration. As much as she was grateful for the phone saving her, she was a bit disappointed that it didn't happen. She remembered what he had said before they left.

This isn't over

She was pretty sure it was because she couldn't imagine repeating that mistake. She opened her door and went in. She changed from her outfit into a nightdress, settling in her bed with her laptop. It hadn't even been up to a minute that she started reading when the front door opened; the clicking noise Tola's footsteps always made with heels filled the adjoining room. Her door opened and she walked in with a smile brighter than the lone bulb that illuminated Sewa's room.

"Hey nerd," she teased and pulled off her shoes. Sewa's heart hammered in her chest. If she had been a few more minutes late, she would have been caught. She frowned inwardly, thrown off guard by her nervousness. Why was she feeling guilty?

"How's your reading going?" she asked, sitting on her bed.

"Great, just great," she muttered.

"You know, Frank asked about you."

She scoffed. "Oh, did he now? Was it before or after he peeled his eyes off those girls and his fancy iPhone?"

Tola laughed. "I noticed. I know why you left early."

She gulped in response, her stomach in knots. "You do?"

"Of course I do. The Sewa I know wouldn't have even left this house if she had an upcoming test."

Shoot, she thought. She forgot that tiny detail.

"Yeah you got me," she said, laughing nervously.

"Sewa, I'm so sorry about tonight. I had no idea he was a complete womanizer."

"Oh, it's okay, at least I got free dinner."

Tola laughed. "Food will not kill you," she said and went into the bathroom.

Sewa sighed. That was way too close. She laid on her bed and touched her lips involuntarily. wondering how kissing him would have felt like. It would have probably been amazing. She sighed, getting back to her book. If she wasn't careful, she was going to be the only one who loses here.

The next few days passed slowly, bringing the rather strange month to an end, along with the complicated thing she had going on with Nathan. He had been busy all week promoting his new album so they were unable to talk about what almost happened between them. But he still sent cute messages from time to time, building up a small feeling of wistfulness in Sewa, accompanied with a sense of guilt for feeling that way. And on this particular day, it seemed to want to swallow her whole. She awoke to the feeling, along with a crushing weight of heaviness in her chest, making her drag her feet into the bathroom to get ready
