Sewa sipped her drink, watching Alison have a mental breakdown. She had not planned on getting out of her bed but unfortunately, Alison decided to be the 'amazing friend' she is and dragged her out to an outdoor restaurant to breathe fresh air. It was funny how she was the one who had her 'love interest' kiss another woman and it was her friend who was freaking out.
"I can't believe this, I can't believe this. I knew something was going to happen, I could just feel it but no, you refused to listen to me. Okay breathe Sewa, just breathe."
Sewa raised an eyebrow at her.
"Okay, she kissed him. That's a good sign, right? Ugh, this is why I told you to go to that party. She wouldn't have done that if she knew he was yours."
Sewa sighed. "He's not mine, Allie. We aren't dating. He is free to do whatever he wants, even get back together with her. I don't have a say in what he does with his life," she mumbled, suddenly taking interest in her banana and strawberry smoothie.
"Please tell me you never said that to him," Alison said with a groan.
"No, I haven't picked his calls."
Alison's eyes widened. "He called you?!"
"Yeah."
Twice before Alison showed up at her place. But she had no intention of answering it. She knew he did nothing wrong. But it only made her feel worse.
"Pick it up. Listen to what he has to say. I honestly don't like the way you are treating him."
Sewa rolled her eyes. "And exactly how should I be treating him?"
"I don't know, like someone who cares about going steady with him? Besides, I don't see why you are so calm about this. Doesn't this bother you?"
She shrugged. She was bothered, of course, she was. She was bothered by the fact that maybe Nathan was still in love with Malia. Sure he wasn't able to like any other person asides from her, but it didn't change the fact his heart shouldn't belong to her in the first place.
Her phone rang and she picked it up to see the caller ID.
Speak of the devil, she thought. She dropped the phone back down and swayed along to her ringtone. Alison looked at her in disbelief."Is that Nate?" Alison said.
She nodded, still swaying along to the beat till the phone stopped ringing.
"And you were dancing to the ring tone?"
"Yup. It's my favourite song."
Alison shook her head.
"You are a terrible person," she said, taking a bite out of her sandwich."And yet, you are still friends with me," Sewa replied. That would make it the third time he tried to reach her. He would probably get the hint that she didn't want to talk to him.
"Don't you want to hear what he has to say?"
"I told you before. He doesn't have to explain himself to me. We are not a thing."
And probably never will be.
"Then you don't have a reason for not picking his call. Or getting jealous."
"I'm not jealous and I don't feel like talking to him."
"Sewa, I wasn't born yesterday, okay? So don't try to treat me like I was. You may act like it doesn't matter but I'm not blind. It shows on your face. You do care. You cared when I mentioned Malia, you cared when I showed you her posts and Nathan's reply. And you care right now," Alison said, leaning back and folding her arms.
