Sewa laid on the couch, scrolling through her phone while ignoring the pleading looks Nathan was sending her. Unfortunately, her phone wasn't being much of a distraction from him so she eventually caved.
"For the last time, not now. Would you please stop bugging me," she said, turning to face him. He threw his hands up.
"Aw, come on. I've been asking for a while now. There's nothing wrong with what I'm asking."
"There's everything wrong with it. I mean, we are still supposed to be under the radar and they still need time to get used to the idea of us."
"But you told them over a month ago."
She had been dropping hints way before that but that still didn't change the fact that she wasn't
"Yeah but... "
"But nothing. You already met my family, why can't I meet yours? Besides I'm pretty sure they would want to meet me too."
She sighed. He was really serious about it. They had been going back and forth with this topic for a while now. At first, he dropped hints which she pretended not to notice and when he got tired, he came clean with it.
It's not that he was being too forward. They had been dating for almost three years now and she wanted her family to get to know him. But it wouldn't be a good idea with the fact that their relationship wasn't public so him travelling to Nigeria for Christmas out of the blue might seem weird.
Coupled with that, the conversation she had with her mom about Nathan made her nervous. She didn't give many reactions when she told her which was worrying because her mom always had one for every news, either good or bad. Her not saying much about it made Sewa more anxious to know how she felt about it.
She had also told her dad. Thankfully, like the jolly man he was, he just made jokes about her dating at her 'small age' and asked embarrassing questions.
She guessed the reason he was calm about it was that she was already almost done with college and normally, it was at this point she was meant to talk about suitors.
But both of them had never said anything about wanting to meet him and she was starting to think that they didn't take it seriously.
"Well now is not the time. Maybe later, okay?" she said.
Hopefully, then they might say something about wanting to get to know him.
He shrugged.
"Fine, I'll drop it, for now. Let's talk about something else. Like how I've been gone for three months and you don't even act like you missed me. All you said was hi. Hi?"
She rolled her eyes at his statement.
"So me being here is what?"
"Please, I know you're only here because of the TV and free Wi-Fi. You could at least pretend you're happy to see me."
She shrugged and moved closer to him, throwing her arms around his neck.
"Oh, I missed you so much, baby. I've been so lonely without you," she squealed a bit too sweetly, enveloping him in a bear hug and rubbing her cheek against his.
"Screw off," he huffed, trying to pry her hands off him, obviously not impressed with her fake display. She laughed at his facial expression.
"Aw, is my baby angry? Don't be mad at me," she said with her most innocent tone.
He didn't answer and kept sulking so she changed tactics. She placed a kiss behind his ear and looked at his face to see his expression.
He still refused to give in, making her smile inwardly. She loved it when he tried to play hard to get.
She planted another kiss on his jawline and another on his temple. She was about to place one on his cheek when he turned his head, making it land fully on his lips.
