Chapter Six: some 'alone time'

-Your P.O.V-

"ENOUGH!"

"It just means there's a hungry guy out there looking for food. It's happened before. You are overreacting."

"You can't be serious!"

"Come on, let's go somewhere and talk about this-" Marlon reaches for Brody's hand but she pushes him to the ground.

"If ANYTHING happens i am holding YOU responsible." Brody says looking at me and Clem and then walks away. I roll my eyes and look at Clem.

"What's her problem?"

"Clem. I know i asked you guys for help... And you did. You did. But... Shit!" Marlon totally ignores me.

"God. Nothing's easy."

"No one died." I say, trying to hide that im annoyed.

"You don't have to worry." Clem says sweetly. Marlon sighs.

"I always do, though. Can't help it."

"Ahem.. Well, atleast we're eating tonight. And for the next few, I'd wager."

"Um.. I should go talk to Brody. You guys go enjoy. You've earned it, after all." Marlon walks off to wherever Brody went. I take Clem's hand and practically run to the tables. Out of the corner of my eye i see Violet look slightly.. mad? That's weird. Why would she be mad? 'huh. okay.'

We sit down. I'm next to Violet and Clem's on the other side of her with Aj over by Tenn as always. 'good thing he made a friend.' I smile to myself.

"Don't sweat it Clem." Louis says, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Ever since we lost Sophie and Minnie, Brody's been freaked out by anything that happens past the safe zone. She'll be alright eventually." Violet says and looks over at Clem and then down at her lap frowning.

I look down and notice her hand next to mine and i get a weird feeling. A wave of confidence washes over me and i gently grab her hand. She gasps quietly and looks over at me, her green eyes shining in the light. I smile at her and squeeze her hand a little tighter but then i let go and put my hand back on the side of my bowl, eating my food.

"Still, we should make sure this is a one time thing. We can take Rosie out in the morning, see if she catches a scent. You know, just in case." Aasim says, coming up behind us.

"I'm gonna.. go clean up." Violet says and gets up. I look at her walking away for a second and think.

"You know, I think I will too." I say and stand up as well, practically running over to where Violet is. She's staring up at the sky and i think i see tears in her eyes. I look behind me for a second and notice that everyone else is cleaning up and going back inside now.

"Hey.. You okay?" She jumps slightly, not expecting anyone to follow her, and wipes her eyes before turning towards me and in almost a whisper, she says..

"Oh, Y-Yeah i'm alright. You should go inside." I could tell she wasn't alright so i did something i would never normally do. I hugged her tightly. She seemed surprised at first but after a minute she hugged me back and cried into my shoulder.

"Sshhhh, it's okay." I said, trying to calm her as i rubbed her back.

After she had calmed down, she looked up at me again and slightly smiled, mumbling a "Thank you."

"Do you want to talk? I don't want to pressure you but im always here if you need me." I tell her, wrapping my arms around her once more, tightly. As i did, i somehow just noticed that her bodies cold, even in her winter-like clothes. I frowned.

"Uhm, im okay i think. Thanks though. I uh might just go lay down im kinda cold and tired anyways." She says.

"Alright, im kinda tired too so.. goodnight." I smile at her. She smiles back and we both head into our rooms, falling asleep as our heads hit the pillows.
