We've been sat in Chemistry for the past thirty-five minutes and I've been watching him chewing his pencil end, relentlessly trying to figure out a question on concentration. Never more In my life have I wished to be a pencil.
Someone whispers "Matthew, have you heard about what Jenna's been saying?"
"No? What now?"
"She totally failed her maths mock because of you"
"Why's that then?"
"You know she was sat next to you? She was so wet she couldn't concentrate."
"How wet?"
"Dripping"
I felt myself die a little bit on the inside, because I know he loves it.
Just as it happens, Jenna was sat directly across the room, next to the titration equipment and tri-pod cupboard. As I looked in her direction, my eyes met her face which was staring across the room directly at Matthew. She flinched when I saw her, and with a little smirk looked back down at her textbook.
It was impossible to tell myself this wasn't real when I was sat right in the middle of it all.
