"How's the food?"
"Really good. Thank you." I looked up from my plate and smirked across the table. We made eye contact for a brief moment and went back to finishing our hearty breakfast.
"We needa talk Ben." Matthew set down his fork across his plate, closed his hands into a fist, and lent back in his chair, looking at me with a sultry gaze.
"About what...?" I questioned.
"About us."
I had a sinking feeling he'd changed his mind from earlier on.
"What about us?"
"Don't play dumb Ben, how are we gonna deal with this in school? I wanna be with you...but there'd be so much judgement."
"Look. I don't care what people think." I replied. "No one has to know quite yet right?"
Matthew looked at me again and smiled.
"Let's just keep it on the down low for now. Is that okay with you?"
"Of course."

A few hours later, we arrived at Wagadada, his favourite Asian inspired restaurant, after a 4o minute drive in my Volvo. The restaurant was located at the top of Slide Street, at the square, next to the maths building of the Uni.
"Table for two?" Questioned the waiter.
"Yes please, veggie menus."
We sat down opposite each other on a long wooden table with oblong shaped lamps hanging over us. Each seat had a place mat advertising a new dish, but all I could focus on was Matthew.
The waiter that was serving our table smiled at the two of us, very acceptingly, and with that I reached across the table and held his hand. To my surprise, he didn't move away, just looked at me with that classic smile.
"I'm so glad your here," Matthew said to me, a soft tone in his voice.
