Chapter 8

I woke up the next morning by someone pulling at my pajama shirt. I opened my eyes to see the girl from last night staring at me. I sat up really fast, trying to remember what happened..... Oh that's right! This girl had something bad happen to her. I looked back over to her and she smiled at me. I smiled back and got out of bed. I looked over to my sisters bed to see that Tiffany was not there anymore. I wonder why she didn't freak out and wake me up. I mean I did have an extra body in the bed with me that is someone that she has never met. Oh well! I stretched a bit and yawned as I went to my closet to get clothes to change into for the day. As I was looking at my clothes, I looked back for a second to see the girl messing with her hair. I must find her something too! I saw my mid thigh teal dress with white croquette part in the front and thought it would look cute on the girl and pulled it out. Right next to that was my white cross back lace skater dress so I picked that out as well.
"What's your name?" I asked the girl. She looked up.
"Melonie.... Melonie Park." She said smiling.
"It's nice to meet you Melonie! My names MinRa." I smiled back. I handed her the teal dress that I picked out and her face brightened. "I picked this out for you to wear, I hope it fits!" I said.
"Thank you!" She cheered! I gave her one of my strapless bras to wear due to us being the same size and a sports bra wouldn't really look nice with her outfit and we changed. When we got done I gave her a side braid.
"I don't mean to be intruding but you're a vampire, right?" I asked.
"Vampire?" She cocked her head to the side. So she doesn't know. She must have been turned last night. I grabbed her hand and led her to the bathroom to look at her reflection. She gasped. "What happened to my eyes?!?" She shrieked. Her whole body shook in fear as she stared into her newly bright red eyes.
"You must have been turned into a vampire last night." I rubbed her back.
"Oh gosh! My family! I remember! I remember everything!" She sobbed into my almost bare shoulder. I could feel her tiny body shaking to death. Something really bad must of happened. I need to know. I have to help this girl. I hope she can tell me.
"You have to tell me what happened! My clan can help!" I stroked her hair.
"They'll kill you!" She said.
"Who are they? Vampire hunters?" I asked and she looked up at me.
"I think that's what they said they were." She looked down with eyes filled with uncertainty and sadness. I grabbed her hand and made her sit on my bed in my room. I need to know what happened. She doesn't seem like a person who will tell anyone but I seem to have a bond with her. I have to try. I grabbed a box of tissues from my desk and plopped next to Melonie. I handed her the tissues and the words just flowed out.
Melonie POV

I felt the overwhelming need to tell this girl that I just met about last nights occurrences. I let my mind go back to the memory of last night....

I was laying around with my two older sisters, Cecilia (Cece) and Eleanor (Nellie), talking about our lives so far. Cece and I are on a beak from school and decided to visit mom and dad while Nellie was just bored because her husband, Kangdae, took her 2 boys out to see a soccer game. Family is important to us so it was natural to have these bonding moments with each other.
"So Kangdaeand I are planning on trying for another baby!" Nellie exclaimed with that goofy grin of hers. I embraced her in a hug.
"Omg! Congrats!!" I squealed!
"Maybe your baby will be willing to play with me more." Cece smiled while sitting back against the wall on my bed. Cece is a tomgirl who can't seem to get Nellies boys attention. Whenever she tries to play basketball with them, Munhee and InSu, would start crying and throwing a fit. It's really funny to watch actually. They seem more interested in shopping with Nellie; Kangdae thinks it would be nice to show the boys the excitement of a soccer game to make them more "manly" but I think it's cute.
"Hey don't indirectly insult my sons!" Nellie pushed Cece off the bed and we all started laughing.
"Foods ready!" Mom called from the kitchen.
"Race you to the table!!" I yelled and ran as fast as I could to get my seat.
"You guys never change." Dad chuckled at his usual end of the table.
"Melonie started it!" Cece joked.
"Why are we always the one getting in trouble?" Nellie played along causing me to pout and everyone to laugh. The happiness of this moment couldn't last any longer. Mom served her homemade mandoo which made our mouths water. Soon enough we chowed down, the laughter and stories not leaving the table as we did it.
"Remember when you gave birth to MunHee and Cece wanted to hold him so badly but he kept throwing up on her."
"Haha how could I forget! Every time she held him he ended up puking."
"Looks like the kid doesn't like you." Dad said.
"Tell me something I don't already know." Cece exclaimed while looking down at her food.
"You know the other day I saw MunHee try to teach InSu how to dribble a basketball like you." Nelly stated. Cece is really famous at her collage for being the best female basketball playing in the country. She even played in America.
"Really?!?" Cece eyes brightened.
"Yeah. He told him that he has to become a tough person like Aunt C. He also told him that Aunt C is going to visit soon so he better be good so he can beat her."
"I didn't know the little squirt liked me." She said smiling for ear to ear. These little things in life I feel are taken for granted. You never realize what you had until it gets taken away. That night, we heard a fight from outside and naturally the whole family ran out to see what happened. We saw two people with glowing red eyes fighting each other. They didn't notice us till one of the people's head was ripped off by a tall bigger built guy wearing jeans and a baby blue t shirt. Seconds later I saw the guy bite my moms neck. Mom turned pale and dropped to the floor in an instant. Nelly and I screamed while Cece just stood there shocked. Dad yelled at the person to get away but those glowing red eyes did the same to dad. I fell to my knees. My mommy and daddy just died in front of my eyes. Cece grabbed a baseball bat that was laying against the side of the house and tried hitting the guy. It hit him right in the head but..... nothing. Before Cece could react, the guy ripped off Ceces head which made blood fly everywhere. Nellie and I just cried our eyes out in our now blood drenched pajamas.
"You monster!" Nellie screamed in horror. She was shaking really badly. I tried to use what strength I had to crawl over to Nellie but my leg was grabbed. I looked back to see the twisted grin of the murderer. I scratched and screamed as much as I could but nothing was working. The guy bit my neck and I felt as though the life was being sucked out out of me. I feel my energy leave me but when I was about to close my eyes, the pressure stopped. I looked over to see that my sister whacked the guy with a huge stick that was in the yard. She was pinned to the ground seconds later, the guy was biting her neck. I heard only these words, "Take care of my kids. I lo-", being whispered from my sisters lips. I cried as much as I could. My sisters, my mom, my dad, all killed right in front of my eyes. How can this happen. I looked at the guy who was still over top my sister and saw that he was laying over her lifelessly. These 6 guys in black outfits were suddenly everywhere. One with shiny black hair and dark skin was stabbing the killer with a wooden stick. The slushing noises of the flesh and blood being penetrated made me cringe every time the guy stabbed.
"Melonie?" I look up to see my boyfriend of 6 months, Ravi looking down at me with shocked eyes. I cried once again when he wrapped his arms around me. I cried and cried until there was no more tears left in me. Ravi just held me close and stroked my hair trying to provide me comfort.
"H-he killed my family!" I sobbed.
"I'm here now. It'll be ok." Ravi said and stood up. He was going to offer me his hand to help me up when a pale, black haired guy stopped him.
"Don't" the guy growled.
"What the hell leo! She's my girlfriend! I'm helping her up!" Ravi snapped.
"Look at her eyes!!! We was too late!" A younger looking guy said. Ravi shook as he looked me in the eyes.
"I can't!" He yelled.
"If you won't we will." Another guy said.
"YOURE NOT TOUCHING HER!" Ravi shouted.
"You know the rules. It's your obligation as a vampire hunter to kill her kind." He sneered and grabbed the same stick that was used to stab the killer and started walking towards me. Panic and fear struck me. I looked at Ravi and was shocked to see him walking away.
"Ravi!" I wailed.
"I'm sorry!" I heard him croak. No! No no no! My boyfriend can't be betraying me. I can't take this!! I ran as fast as I could until I could run no more. Next thing I knew there was a girl preparing a bath for me like my mom used to when I was younger. From then on I knew I could trust her somehow and that's how I ended up here, without a family, betrayed, and now I've became what killed my family. A vampire.
