Eve didn't wait to be invited by Taehyung. She arrived at his penthouse on a mission to get some answers from him. She nodded at Hoseok, who smiled at her and gestured her out towards the veranda. Eve slowed her pace and folded her arms, holding herself from the chill of the cool night air.
"Visiting without an invitation. That's a first for you, Genevieve." Taehyung spoke from the shadows he emerged from. "This must be important."
"I need answers and I need your truth. Can you at least grant that to me?"
Taehyung's heart bounced as he read Eve's desires. He sensed she was not leaving until she received from him what she wanted to hear. "Possibly. I feel as if I'm in for an interrogation. Handcuffs?" He teased.
"Taehyung please, not now. I really need to know." Eve pleaded.
He moved closer to her. "Fine. The truth. What answers do you seek, Evie?"
"Why didn't I hear you today? When I'm with anyone one else, you invade my thoughts, but when I'm with Jungkook, you're silent. Why?"
Taehyung gulped as he fought his selfish nature to hold the truth. "Because I can't interfere."
Eve frowned. "Interfere? You interfere in my thoughts all the time. You know everyone I come in contact with."
"I can not interfere when you're with him. Deliciously evil as it may be, I couldn't do that to you." Taehyung admitted.
Eve scoffed. "You're protecting me? From yourself? That's very noble for Satan, but why?"
Taehyung's eyes wandered over Eve's as his lips parted to speak. The numbness succumbed him again and this time he fought through it. He the outcome once he opened the gate, and what he would have to do to close it."Because I love you, but I'm not your one."
A hitch Eve's breath rested in her throat as her eyes quickly filled with tears. Badges of hurt and happiness consumed her as she replayed his words, shocked to hear them from his lips. She instantly feared what may come next. "B-But, I belong to you. I'm yours." She uttered lowly.
Hot, salty drips of fire fell from Taehyung's eyes as his heart slowly fell into his own self-inflicted torture. "You belong to Jungkook. He's your one."
Eve shook her head. "N-No! He's not! You are! P-Please tell me it is you." She shouted through her tremble.
Taehyung took Eve into his arms. "I love you, therefore I cannot hurt you. I cannot keep you knowing you are not mine. It would be selfish, and you would be unhappy with me. I cannot allow that. You have too much to live for than to be stuck with my eternity."
"No. Please. Let me." She begged.
"No Eve! I won't! Everything is happening is the way it should. I gave you what you desired. I showed you were capable of the things you thought you weren't. You belong with Jungkook and he will love you more and give you the things I can't. You deserve to be with him."
Eve lowered her head, heart breaking loudly from his confession. Tears fell onto Taehyung fingers as he grabbed her chin and lifted her face to him. "I'm sorry, but I must do this..."
