Gabriel cut the vegetables before throwing them into the warm water. He considered himself a decent cooker, unlike some of his teammates who could burn up the entire kitchen just by making some eggs. He sighed while rubbing his eyes, just the thought of this started a headache. He lit up the fire for a pan, cutting the chicken into pieces then put it in it. He checked up on the broth, the vegetables were slowly cooking. He heard something shuffled behind him, immediately he grabbed a knife and turned around. He felt quite silly when he noticed you were slowly waking up. His reflexes weren't all good. He placed down the knife while keeping an eye on his dish.
You approached him with exhausted eyes and tiny steps. He raised his eyebrows then kneeled to touch your forehead. As expected, it was still hot to the touch. He took you in his arms, fearing nothing since he went through multiple experiences which immunised him of most illnesses. You curled up a bit more, debating if you should sleep again or wait for Papi to finish his dish.
"Don't worry kid, it's almost done..." He muttered almost as if he read your thoughts. Though he didn't have that power, your face gave enough information for him. You sat down, wrapping the blanket around your tiny body as best as you could. You observed Papi Gabriel the best you could even if you were exhausted. He poured some of the soup in a bowl and then came toward you.
"Here, drink this." He placed it down on the small table in front of you and you gave him your best nod. You weakly raised your arm but it fell. Gabriel chuckled at your misfortune, he was glad he couldn't fell sick anymore. He sat beside you, making sure the blankets were wrapped securely around you and he grabbed the bowl. He took a spoon of the soup, blowing on it to make sure it wasn't too hot then he served it too you. You drank it and felt a tiny better, though you doubted you were cured yet you did feel less sick. Maybe because now, your stomach wasn't empty anymore. Gabriel kept doing the same thing until nothing remained in the bowl.
"Come now, you need to take a shower or bath, whatever you like," He muttered the last part. You got up but tripped on the blanket. He caught you before you could touch the ground. He laughed at your mistake, lifting you and carried you to his bathroom. He would just give you some of his clothes, even though it would practically be twice or thrice your size, you would have clean clothes.
He filled the tub of warm water and then he asked you to bath yourself. He left you alone for a moment, eating his meal. When he finished, he noticed your sleepy gaze. He came closer and ruffled your hair. You didn't respond as you were falling asleep. He took you out of the bath, dried you and cleaned your hair as well then put some of his clothes on you. He laughed when he saw the result. You almost disappeared in his outfit. At least you would be warm. He carried you to his bed and settled you in it.
"Comfy kiddo?" You gave him a tired nod, yawning before tugging on his jeans.
"Could you tell me a story?" He sighed as he made himself comfortable as well. He knew he was stuck here for quite a while.
"What do you want to know?"
"How are you so cool Papi?" You demanded while attempting to fight the fatigue in your body.
"Cool? In which ways? Cause for me, I don't feel "cool"." If you could frown, you would have, but you were a tad too sick to do anything else but talk. So you did.
"You don't feel cool? But Papi, you have all those superpowers! You teleport, you can turn into smoke and you protect me with everyone else! No matter what, you always appear cool. You can take so much, and it feels like it doesn't bother you at all! Plus your outfit and all, I wish I could have those. You're kind of my hero Papi." You mumbled the last part but Gabriel still heard it. His lips tugged upward, it wasn't quite a smile yet but it was finding its way. He ruffled your hair while giving you his best smile. You didn't budge but you smiled unconsciously, snuggling more into him. He scooped you in his arms, deciding to take a nap with you.
"Thanks, kiddo... Means a lot," he whispered back as he noticed your soft snores. Yeah, it did mean a lot for him. Ever since the fall of Overwatch, he never felt the same. He was a monster, a murderer, a terrorist, a twisted man in a mutilated body. But with you, you made him feel like someone normal. You weren't related, but he considered you his grandchild. He was too old to feel like a father, and he partially had this role in Blackwatch. He let this role to the others, especially Olivia. He sighed as he knew he was getting sleepier.
"Yeah he's going to come over, so just don't shoot him when you see him. For what? Oh, don't worry he'll explain to you everything." Olivia talked to the phone in her room, knowing she had some privacy here. Usually, Amélie would be here too but she was sent on a mission for the moment so she had some time to discuss in tranquillity.
"When? I dunno, shouldn't take him more than one week I think? Just enough time for you to explain everything to your superiors." She heard collective groans and she smirked as she imagined their faces. Normally, she wouldn't have thought of calling her enemies but it helped Baptiste, and he was family so she guessed she could ignore some of the rules. Though she barely respected more than a dozen. She hummed as she listened to the conversation they had on the other side of the phone. Until a question was asked.
"Nope, I'm not telling why I'm doing this. I may have appeared friendly the other time, but it doesn't mean we're friends." She talked a bit more until they were called by their bosses. She placed put her phone in her pocket, getting up while yawning. Maybe she should go sleep but it was still early for that. Well, guess she'll do what she's used to do when she's bored. Go bother Gabriel.
She chuckled as she left her room to join his. It was a quick ride and she was about to slam the door open but when her look noticed what truly was happening, she didn't. Instead, she grabbed her phone and took a picture of you and Gabriel. Those were rare moments, but everyone appreciated them. She saved the picture then watched around the room.
"Now, where were those markers already?"
