↠ Carl's Painful Truth

"Wake up"

I groan and stir.

"Wake up or I'm gonna bash you in the head" I recognized that voice. The same voice from last night.

"I'd like to see you try, asshole" I mumble the last part. I roll on my back and blinked my eyes open. There I saw Carl with his hat, looking down at me with his blue eyes.

"I'm up so go away" I growl and sit up.

"Dad told me to get you up for breakfast so you better be up. I don't want to get in trouble again because of you" He hisses before turning back around and I roll my eyes. Can I toss him into a pit of 'walkers' as they call the infected.

I stood up and brushed out my hair with my fingers before pulling it up on to a messy bun. I brushed out the wrinkles of my now shirt and walked out to where the others were. The first person I saw was Beth.

"Good morning" Beth smiles at me, carrying a sleeping Judith in her arms.

"Good morning, Beth. Do you need help with her?"

"No she doesn't" Sasha speaks up for Beth. I look at Sasha who glared at me.

"Here, eat up" Hershel gives me a plate of eggs and I thank him for it. Beth brings me to a table where she sat at, I ended up across Carl. He didn't seem too happy I was there because suddenly he gets up and leaves the table.

"Sorry about Carl" Beth says sympathetically.

"Yeah, me too" I mumble.

"So, you're from Woodbury huh?" Beth says striking up a conversation while rocking Judith back and forth.

"Was. I was from Woodbury"

"Oh. How'd you stumble across Woodbury?" She asks.

"I found a group before and we got invited in"

"Well, at least you had a safe place to stay" Beth smiles.

I shake my head. "The inside of Woodbury is as deadly as the outside. The Governor isn't who he says he is"

"Really? Now at least you're out of the place"

"I know. I'm really thankful that Rick brought me back. I missed not having to wake up early" I sigh.

"So Andrea's in Woodbury?" Hershel speaks to me.

"Yeah, she's the Governor's girlfriend"

"She doesn't know she's got a psycho as a boyfriend" Daryl cringes.

"How long has she been there?" Carol asks me, handing me a glass of water and I thank her.

"About a week or two, I really don't know. I was always busy doi-" I stop mid sentence. I decided to shut up before I said something I regretted.

"Okay, well you're gonna help out with stuff around here, if that's okay with ya" Rick says.

"Of course" I reply and he gives me a slight smile before turning away and letting me finish my plate.

I didn't think this was going to be my job. Joining Carl in the field? Greeeaat.

"You're doing it wrong" He says gesturing to me.

"I'm just doing what you're doing" I reply irritated. He sighs and holds the grass from the roots, and pulls it out effortlessly.

"That's what I was doing" I snap.

"You were pulling from the ends, pull from the roots, idiot" He says.
