Thirty Nine

Thea's POV

It's a gloomy day here in California and it looks like it's going to rain which is nice.

But I woke up way to early to enjoy it.

I'm at this stupid meeting.

I should have just stayed in bed if they were going to criticize us in this meeting.

Thats right I'm in a meeting with the Spaniards, Russians and lastly the Italians.

It's more of the Spaniards and Russians questioning our choices while the Italians comment here and there.

"Thea almost died and you guys were just going to let it-"

"THATS ENOUGH" Jakes voice echos as he cuts off Dom.

"If your here to complain about my leading then I suggest for you guys to pack your bags back to your territory" Jake says and I see them all look at each other except for Mason, Mac and Luis who have a poker face on.

"Now that, thats-"

"Are we even sure Thea can hold up her position after what happened?" Hunter randomly says and I look at Marcelo with a raised eyebrow.

Amused with this I glance at Jake and nod at him to let Hunter continue.

"She is clearly emotional and in pain both physically and mentally right now. How can we trust that she will be able to do her job-"

"I wouldn't say anything if I were you, Hunter" Mason says making Hunter glare at him while Mason has a poker face on.

"Your only saying that because your married to her" Hunter retracts.

As Jake was about to intervene I tap one finger on the desk so he wouldn't.

"No,I am also not saying anything because if you guys weren't here bashing on them then you would know that while we were racing, Jasper was found dead at that time" Mason says pulling out his phone which shows a news report about it.

Dominic takes his phone and quickly reads it before passing it to Marcelo.

"If you couldn't tell just by reading that article, they know exactly what they are doing just that Esperanza wasn't apart of what they planned" Mason says taking his phone back after Marcelo quickly reads it.

Everyone is silent before Jake glances at me and I slightly nod without anyone paying attention.

"I'm guessing this meeting is over with. It was nice to see all of you guys today but I have important discussions to talk about with my people" Jake says standing up and I do so too.

I forgot that I have to go to Gary's after this because he said when i got my blood work done two weeks before there was something "unusual" about it and he wants me to get more blood work done to see if the results are correct.

Thea this is not the place nor time to think about that right now.

They all just look at each other before they stand up and we do too.

"I'll be waiting in the car" Mason whispers in my ear giving me goosebumps.

"Can we get me some ice cream and pizza on your way back? Oh and some cake too" I whisper back and he looks at me weirdly but decides not to question it.

I give him a peck in the lips and say a quick thanks as he starts to leave.

I see Mac and Luis wiggle there eyebrows at me and I scrunch up my face.
