Percy's POV

*RECAP*

"We're staying together." Percy promised. "You're not getting away from me. Never again."

Only then did Annabeth understand what would happen. A one-way trip. A very hard fall.

"As long as we're together." Annabeth said.

She heard Nico and Hazel still screaming for help. She saw the sunlight far, far above-maybe the last sunlight she would ever see.

Then Percy let go of his tiny ledge, and together, holding hands, he and Annabeth fell into the endless darkness.

*END OF RECAP**

The darkness quickly rushed by, and the air felt cold, as Annabeth and I plummeted to Tartarus.

I felt as if I was giving up everything, just to close the Doors of Death. Just to stop Gaea from ruling the world. To think that I once thought that Mother Earth was a nice person who kept the world at peace was a underestimate. Mother Earth actually wanted to destroy the Earth. And cause war.

I still held Annabeth's hand tightly. She was beside me, making terrified noises once in a while, and I thought that the chances of survival for us weren't good. Annabeth had already been injured by Arachne, who was the person-or spider- that had pulled Annabeth into Tartarus, and brought us into this. Falling into Tartarus.

But I knew that Annabeth and I had to survive this fall. We had to survive where Nico Di Angelo barely survived. We had to beat Gaea's forces, and close the Doors of Death. That was the only way to survive-the only way to stop monsters from coming back to life over and over again.

I suddenly wondered what the rest of the Demi-gods that want along with Annabeth and I on the quest were feeling right now. Jason would probably be blaming himself. They all were probably doing that. But I hoped that Nico kept his promise to me, and guide them through the House of Hades, and to close the Doors of Death from both sides.

I realized that I was having a long time to think about things, since we were falling into Tartarus and all. That must've meant that Tartarus was really deep. Or it meant that......

"PERCY!!!!" Annabeth suddenly shrieked beside me, and I looked down to see the ground rushing towards us in a alarming rate.

I really wished that I was Jason Grace right now. He could've controlled the air, and softened our fall. But he wasn't here, and we were going to die for sure if I didn't think of something soon. I looked around me, but all I could see was darkness. I suddenly had a idea. A very hopeless idea, but that was all I got at that time. I prayed for Lord Zeus to help us. Even though Lord Zeus hasn't exactly liked me very much, we were trying to stop Gaea, and save the world.

"WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?" Annabeth yelled, and I half grimaced. Annabeth was going to be very mad at me for sure if my very hopeless plan failed, providing that we didn't die beforehand.

Just as I had given up hope, and we were about to hit the ground and became flattened people, when suddenly a bunch of fluffy stuff appeared on the ground. Annabeth and I landed in the fluffy things, which were actually quite soft, and broke our fall a lot. I realized that the fluffy things were feathers. I sat up and looked around for Annabeth. She was right beside me, and starting to get up too, groaning.

"Are you okay?" I asked urgently, and she nodded, picking feathers off of her.

"So that was your brilliant plan? To hope that something fluffy would appear out of nowhere?" Annabeth asked, and I shook my head.

"More like, I prayed for Lord Zeus to help us. But I don't exactly know if these feathers are his doing or not....." I replied standing up and dusting feathers off me.

Annabeth stood up and winced slightly as she put weight on her broken ankle.

"We'll need to wait for that to heal before we can do anything else." I noted, frowning.

Annabeth glared at me, but finally nodded and sat back down.

I sat down too, and leaned against the rocky walls that I didn't notice before. The screams and shrieks of monsters echoed in the pit, and I realized with a shiver that it wasn't far from where we were. What were we going to do? How were we going to defeat Gaea's forces?

"Thanks Percy." Annabeth suddenly mumbled, and I turned to look at her. Her grey eyes were as stormy as ever, and they stared into my green ones.

"For what?" I asked.

"For falling with me into Tartarus." Annabeth replied.

"Well, I couldn't just leave you to die, could I? Especially not after I left you for six months already." I replied.

I saw Annabeth shrug in the dim light.

"It wasn't exactly your fault. It was Hera's." She replied, and I nodded.

"I know. Get some rest, Annabeth." I muttered, looking around.

Annabeth looked like she was about to protest, when she changed her mind. Perhaps she was too tired to argue, because she laid down and fell fast asleep.

I half smiled as her blond hair fell over her face, and she was once again covered in feathers. I edged towards her, and sighed silently. Then reality hit me.

Annabeth and I were in the pits of Tartarus. Where Gaea's forces were strongest. Where even Nico Di Angelo, a son of Hades, barely survived in. Where no on ever dared to venture near before, and those who dared never made it back alive except for Nico. But that was because he had help from the giants.

How was Annabeth and I going to survive? The odds were definitely against us. But I knew that we had to survive somehow. To survive to save the world, and to meet our friends again.

* This happened in the last page of the chapter LI in the book the Mark Of Athena by Rick Riordan. None of that work belongs to me, and you could read that part for yourselves if you wanted to. So the disclaimer....everything belongs to Rick Riordan (characters etc.) except for some characters of monsters that I make up randomly. Thanks for reading
