I stayed still, paralysed with fear that if I even moved a muscle, they would find me. My hands were shaking and there was a thin layer of sweat over my forehead.
After a while, their voices got further and further away, until It was just a distant echo and then I couldn't hear them anymore. I waited for about five minutes just to make sure they were gone, before climbing down from the tree. My foot slipped and I feel down, landing in my ankle.
"Shit" I whispered, a jolting pain transporting up my leg. I stepped on it and it hurt like a bitch, but I had to keep going.
I started to walk back to what I was hoping was the motel, guessing the direction. And After walking for about ten minutes I found it.
I limped over to the reception desk, figuring I should get a new key as they knew what room I was in before. A woman was there this time. She looked quite old and had a friendly smile, her eyes crinkling.
"Hi ma'am. I was wondering if I could stay in a room for tonight" I asked, timidly approaching her. She nodded and got out a random key.
"That'll be $10 please" she said. My heart sank.
"I'm sorry ma'am. I haven't got any money" I replied. She stared at me, as though she was thinking for a few seconds before she smiled. She didn't say anything, just handed me the key.
"Thank you" I smiled. She nodded as I turned and left the reception.
I walked into the small room, having a chance to look around this time. There was a double bed, a small dresser, a couch, a tv and a dingy bathroom, which had only a shower, sink and toilet. Everything smelled damp and just overall gross. I looked down, realising I was still in Calum's clothes.
Walking over to the couch, I flopped myself down, turning on the tv. Rick and morty was on, and I was watching it for a couple of minutes before the tv glitched and changed to a different screen.
I gasped at the familiar face that was on the tv.
"This is a message from me, Calum Hood. You see, something that belongs to me has recently left. This something is actually a someone. She goes by the name of Ashley Ramirez."
A photo of me flashed across the screen. It was a recent photo, one I didn't even know existed. What the actual fuck was wrong with this guy?!
"If you see her, or know anything of her whereabouts, contact me immediately. If I find out she has been hidden from me, there will be severe punishment. And Ashley, if you're watching this, just know, you can't hide forever."
The screen glitched again and the tv went off. Shit! What could I do? I can't stay here! The woman at the desk saw me, and so did about four other people. He'll be on his way here any second now.
I opened the door and ran out, already seeing someone on the phone.
"She ran into- wait! She's here. I'm looking at her right now! We're at the motel on distrew Avenue" the man said. My eyes widened and I ran away from him, going as fast as my legs could take me, which was apparently not very fast.
Cars were driving past me, and I could hear Calum's words coming from a few of them. He put it on the radios too?! This guys fucking crazy! Cars were stopping around me and people were climbing out of them, going directly to their phones. I continued to run, needing to get away from everyone. I ran and ran until a hand went around my wrist. I screamed, but a hand went over my mouth.
"Call him! Tell him we have her!" I heard the guy say. I bit down on his hand as hard as I could, making him shriek out in pain and let go of me.
I started to run again, dodging the arms of everyone. I looked back, seeing a huge crowd of people chasing me. But they suddenly all stopped. Then I ran into something hard. A wall? A tree?
The thing I crashed into vibrated, and I could hear a deep chuckle. That's not a tree.
"You really thought you could get away from me doll?"
Fuck
