8 - can you stay?

Calum's POV

"NO!"

Everything was suddenly in slow motion. My eyesight was fuzzy. My head spinning. All sounds had been muted.

I stumbled forwards at the same time as Luke.

I saw him reach over the edge, I couldn't tell if he caught her or not.

He started to pull up, and I saw a small hand clasped in his. I ran towards him, helping him pull her up. We pulled her over and she fell ontop of me, but I didn't care.

I held her to my chest, wrapping my arms around her as tight as I could. She fisted my shirt, sobbing into my chest. A few tears slipped out of my eyes too. My hand was stroking the back of her head, trying to calm her.

"Why?" She sobbed.

"Why would you stop me?!" She screamed. She pushed herself away from me, and started hitting my chest. I was at a loss for words.

I saw Luke run towards her and pull her into a hug, where she relaxed into him. Anger bubbled inside of me, and I stood up, storming over to the elevator.

As the doors shut I saw Luke look up at me. He had pity covering his face. The doors closed and they were left in silence.

Luke's POV

"Shhhh. It's okay. You're fine" I soothed as I stroked her hair. She was sobbing into my chest, and was shaking like a leaf.

I continued whispering to her, and she slowly calmed down. I felt her relax, and looked down to see her eyes closed. I picked her up, and walked over to the elevator.

I took her back into Calum's apartment, seeing he wasn't there. I walked upstairs and gently set her on the bed. I turned to leave, but I felt her small hand grab my much larger one. Her eyes were half open, dazed, but they were looking at me.

"Can you stay? Please?" She asked.

"I don't think Calum would like that" I replied honestly.

"Please" she pleaded, another few tears dropping.

I sighed and sat back down on the bed, my back against the headboard. She curled up into my side, and almost instantly fell asleep. I was only praying that Calum wouldn't come back anytime soon.
