Chapter 95

"Well?" Josephine asked as Russell looked over the brain scans on the computer. "Any sign of stroke? How long until our brains melt?"

Russell looked at their brains for another moment. "Best guess- 36 hours, less if you can't keep them on their side of the divide," He said, taking the equipment off of Josephine then Tori.

"Oh, it's not a problem. They're back in their cage. We just need to stay awake long enough for Priya to build something to generate the EMP."

Russell shook his head. "You can't tell Priya or anyone else, not until your mother is back and we're sure we can make enough hosts for you and the others."

Tori furrowed her eyebrows, sharing a look with her sister. "I'm confused," Josephine said. "We already have a host. We just need you to finish what you started. We take out our mind drives, we nuke the neural mesh with the EMP, and then we put them back in. Problem solved."

"We have a chance to erase this sin, to give Clarke and Ember their bodies back, to put you in a willing host."

"Are you out of your mind?"

"I agree with Josie," Tori said, getting a surprised look from both. They figured she would be on Russell's side of the argument. They had a way to right this wrong. Her nose started to bleed, and she wiped the blood out as she explained. "We've seen inside of these girl's heads. Ember especially. I know what they're capable of. Trust me, if we bring them back, they'll kill us all."

Russell shook his head. "I don't think they will, not if we do the right thing." Tori scoffed, about to continue her argument when he turned around. "Stay here. I'll have Jade fetch you Clarke and Ember's clothes."

He stalled at the door. "When the universe gives you a second chance, you take it. We'll get through this. You'll see."

"Thank god they're still in there," Jackson said. "Clarke's death would have destroyed Abby."

"The question is, how do we get Josephine and Tori out?" Bellamy asked.

Echo sighed quickly. "We need Raven. She'll know what to do."

"Raven's not here," Tavia snapped. She'd been irritable since all the drama, and she just wanted it to be over and have her mom back.

Bellamy looked down at her. "Hey, we're gonna get them back." She glanced down and gave a small nod. "When the transport ship lands, we'll be waiting in the field with Josephine and Tori. Once we're all back on the mothership, Abby, Raven, and Jackson will go to work."

"What if they don't open the shield and let us out?" Miller asked.

"It they don't, Josephine and Tori die."

"That's why they will," Bellamy agreed with Echo.

Jordan finally looked up at them. "What about Delilah? If they're still alive, then she could be too." Bellamy looked away, and Jordan sighed. "You care about them."

"That's not true," Bellamy said quickly. "But worry about them for now. We start asking questions and the Primes figure out why-"

"They can't figure it out if they're dead," Madi said. Everyone looked at her. "Once we kill the Primes, we take over Sanctum. We save them here in the lab that was built for it."

"Is that your idea or Sheidheda's?"

She turned to Bellamy and raised an eyebrow. "Who cares if it works? I've been surveilling the one named Miranda. We kill her and let them find the body. They'll think it's the Children of Gabriel and panic, locking themselves inside the palace, probably the great hall, and that's where we'll be waiting to take out the rest."
