Chapter 18: Dad!?

Zach and I were laying in bed staring at my ring. "I love it." It was so simple yet so breathtaking.

"I know, you've said that like a million times since last night." He rolled out of bed and threw a shirt on. "I'm gonna go make breakfast." He looked at the clock it read 11:26. "Okay, I'm gonna make lunch. Get up and ready though." I nodded and got out of bed.

I turned the shower on and stared at my ring. I smiled and stripped my clothes off. 

I heard Zach come back into the room. "Here to join me?" I said as he entered the bathroom. His face was white like he had seen a ghost.

"Abby, your dad is here" my stomach flipped, I haven't seen him since what happened in Florida.

FLASHBACK

I got out of the car fixing my outfit then walking up to the front door. I stood there for a second before knocking.

I could hear talking through the door then a girl who looked like she was my age answered. "Um, Hi?" She said looking up from her phone.

"Who is it?" A boy who looked just a little bit older than her came downstairs.  

"Um, I'm looking for Barry Walker...h-he's my dad." The Boy turned around and yelled for my dad to come to the door.

"Who's here?" He said coming in view of the door. "A-Abby. How did you find me? Doesn't matter. Come in, we'll go talk in my office." I followed him closely he motioned for me to sit in a chair.

"Um, I came because I wanted to know why you left us. But I can clearly see that you just found new versions of us to replace what was our family." I wiped my tears.

"Abby, I don't know what to say. Some marriages just don't work out, your mom and I agreed that me leaving was the best option" 

"But your kids need you. Bryce is literally taking care of me most of the time. We're we just not good enough for you? Did we do something to deserve you leaving without saying a word?" 

"Abigail, you have to know that your life will be better without me in it..."

"I WANT MY DAD TO BE IN MY LIFE! I AM YOUR LITTLE GIRL, YOU HELD ME FIRST, YOU WERE THERE ON MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, MY FIRST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL." I calmed myself down before continuing. "I need my dad." I started crying harder.

"Abby, I can't be your dad anymore. I told you on the phone, I'm not gonna be part of your life anymore." I sobbed into my hand.

"So just like that you're gonna leave me, all alone. Who's gonna walk me down the aisle? Who's gonna be there at my graduation. All these things that you promised me you'd be there for. All of that was a lie?" He just stared at me and didn't say anything. "You never loved us, did you? It takes a sick man to just get up and leave his children and wife behind for a new family. I came all this way for you to reject me again. I'm the stupid one, I actually believe my dad wanted to be in my life. But you don't care, we're just pawns in your life, I'm sure when you get tired of this family you'll leave them behind too." I wiped my tears away.

"Abigai..." I cut him off.

"Goodbye Barry." I walked out of his house. I stood on the porch and cried. Jeff came up to me and walked me to the car.
