chapter 24 a hard pill to swallow

Its Wednesday morning. I got the kids to school and gave keirston a ride to her doctors appointment. I'm waiting in the car for her when I get a call from aunt lola saying that my uncle joe was in the ICU because he had a stroke. She didnt know if he would make it and advised me to come just in case he didn't. I told her to keep me posted and I'll talk to Ryan about it.
This was a big deal for me.

Aunt lola know how close I am to my uncle. I called Ryan as soon as I got off the phone with lola. Holding back tears I told him what was going on. I told him that I'd talk Adriel and Quinlan and leave the older ones with him. Just then keirston gets in the car and instantly can tell something's up.

So I have the ultra..... what's wrong I say looking at abby. It's my uncle she says he had a stroke and is in bad shape they don't know if he will make it. Me and the twins are gonna fly out hopefully either tonight or tomorrow morning so I can see him. Abby tells me whipping away her tears.
Ok that takes care of the twins what about Autumn and Cody what are you doing to do with them Ryan has to work and I can't handle them not while I'm this pregnant.

I'll see if maybe Lexi will pick them up from school and put them to bed if you could get them up and ready she can take them. Ok I can handle that. Keirston said your the best I told keirston as we pull out of the dr office.

The next morning

Intercom now boarding flight 374 to Portland I repeat now boarding flight 374 direct flight to Portland

Security guard
NEXT! Please place all bags purses and electronic devices in the bens to be scanned then step forward.

Ok Quinlan you go through there Adriel you follow your brother. No! Adriel says grabbing my leg.
Come on son I dont have time for this! Tue security guard says. Adriel you'll be fine I have to go through a different scanner you have to go with you your brother. No! He screams mama he has to go through. The guard says I know I reply. Look can I go through here so he will then I'll go do the regular scanner? Um yes you can a female guard says as long as he goes through we can allow you to. Thank you I say. I walk through and have Adriel come to me. The guard give both the boys jr pilot stickers while I go through the scanner.

We get to our gate and wait for them to call boarding. The boys spot a vending machine filled with snacks and beg me to get them some. I give in as a snack will keep them happy for a while. I get them some fruit snacks and me a package of m&ms I fill their cups with some lemonade that I bought and gave it to them. They called our seating number and we boarded the plane. The boys were fighting about who gets the window seat so me being the mom that I am I let Adriel sit by the window on the first flight and Quinlan on the next one.

When we get to Dallas the boys are both hungry but I'm not exactly sure where our next gate is so I tell them to wait to eat until after we find our gate. We had 2 hours until our next flight and our gate was on the other side of the airport so we rode the train and found our gate. 10 minutes before our next flight I bought the boys  and myself McDonalds  but I didn't let them eat until we were on the plane. The boys did better on our last flight then they did on the first one.

We made it!

We get off the plane and I see aunt lola and aunt Ashley waiting for us. We picked up our bags from baggage claim and left. The boys fell asleep on the way to aunt Lola's house. 
I get the boys in the house and put them in bed.

The next morning I make breakfast for everyone. Doodle makes the kids plates but not one for herself. I've asked neddy if she would watch the boys while me and doodle go to the hospital. We get to the hospital and see Sophie and Morgan sitting in the waiting room. Just as we are about to sit down Ashley comes out.

Aunt Ashley I say walking up and giving her a big hug. She hugs me for about 2 minutes then let's go. Where are the kids I haven't seen the twins since they were itie bitty babies. They are with me I just didn't want to bring them yet. Um can I see him? Yeah sure he's in room 207 ok. Girls why dont you go with her. Ok they both say.
