Chapter 11: It Should've Been Me

Authors Note:

First of all I'm still alive😂 I've just been very busy. And before I start this chapter I just want to say 1. OMYCATSMEOW THE NEW EPISODES AND THE NEW SONG ARE AWESOME!! And 2. I'm sorry it is very repetitive but it kinda had do be done. The next chapter is a lot better I promise😊 Now to the story

Adrien's view

Plagg, Tikki and Master Fu's kwami flew into the next room as Master Fu explained to me what the purple salt was and how it affected Marinette. 

"Can you help her?" I asked as Master Fu placed some kind of plant on Marinette's arm.

"I can not. But you can." he replied.

"What do you mean?"

"This plant has a special binding power. It can bind two people together and heal the one that is hurt by using the other person's strength.  But with a power as strong as this, the holder of the ladybug or cat miraculous must help heal the injured person for they are the strongest miraculous."

"How does it bind us together? What do I have to do?" I asked.

"You must kneel down beside her, take her hand, and close your eyes. Then you will see every time the purple salt affected her. You will feel that same pain she is feeling until you get back to how it originally poured onto her. You can not let go of her hand or she will die."

"W-wait. She... she'll die?!" I asked, shocked.

"Yes but only if you let go. So do not let go."

"O-ok."

"She is ready. Take her hand and close your eyes." Master Fu said as he backed up a little bit.

I took Marinette's hand and looked at her.

"Please be ok." I whispered.

I closed my eyes. As soon as I did I saw the last time she got hurt. It was on the way here and I was holding her and running. I felt a sting in my hand but kept my eyes closed. The next time was just before she passed out. I felt another sting but in my wrist. Then shortly after she fell of the roof. Another sting in my wrist. When she hit the ground after falling off the roof. I felt a huge burn go from my wrist to half way up my forearm. I continued to keep my eyes closed.

When I grabbed her arm she got hurt. Running on the roof tops. Sting. Sting. When she tripped on the roof top. When she was running away from me. Sting. Sting

When I used cataclysm on her.

I opened my eyes before I felt the sting. My eyes filled up with tears as I gripped Marinette's hand tighter.

"You must keep your eyes closed, Adrien." Master Fu said. "I know it is hard, but it is the only way to heal her."

I nodded, took a deep breath, and closed my eyes again.

She got hurt when she tripped. And when she was backing away from me. Sting. Sting. She got hurt when she hit the lamppost.

I could feel the stings going further up my arm and they were getting worse.

When she jumped out of the window she got hurt. Sting. When she fell as we were fighting Mathmatition. Sting. When she was transforming, in the bathroom, and in class. Sting, sting, sting. When she was headed to school and when she put her jacket on. Sting, sting. As she climbed out of bed. Sting.

As she woke up and when she was asleep she hurt. Sting. Sting . When she climbed into bed from her balcony last night. Sting . As she de-transformed last night.

Another big sting shot up my arm. It was just below my shoulder.

She got hurt when she fell on her balcony and on her way home last night. Two more stings. When I laid her down on the rooftop and woke her up. Sting. When I had taken her out of Hawkmoth's lair and when the akumas dropped her. Sting, sting. When Hawkmoth crushed the akuma in her hand.

I felt a big sting go from my hand to my chest.

Again when the akumas pinned her to the wall and she was struggling to get away. Two more stings. She got hurt when she ran towards Hawkmoth and she fell. Another sting.

Then I saw what happened before she got the purple salt on her hand.

We were fighting Hawkmoth in his lair. He threw Ladybug up against a wall that was behind us. I turned to see if she was alright and Hawkmoth struck my leg. I fell to the ground and could barely move. Ladybug looked up and saw Hawkmoth run up to me with a salt shaker in his hand containing the purple salt in it. Hawkmoth picked up my hand to pour it on me. Ladybug stood up, ran to Hawkmoth, and covered the opening with her hand. Causing the purple salt to get on her hand.

I quickly opened my eyes and gasped. I couldn't help but let the tears fall from my eyes.

"Adrien!" I heard four voices exclaim.

"It... It was meant for me. He was pouring the salt on me. But Ladybug... It should've been me." I mumbled.

"Adrien. You... you let go." Plagg said, sounding sad.

I looked down to see my hand was on the bed next to Marinette's hand. I... I let go.

"No." I whispered.

I looked at her face and she had no color in her face. She looked as white as a ghost.

"No!" I said louder. I couldn't stop looking at her.

"Marinette?" Tikki said.

She sounded like she was about to cry. I didn't blame her. Plagg and Master Fu's kwami quickly flew to comfort her.

"I am sorry, Adrien." Master Fu said sadly.

"No! Marinette! Wake up! Please Marinette! Wake up!" I yelled as I was shaking her. Tears kept rolling down my cheeks.

"Kid... She... she's gone." Plagg told me.

"It's my fault! It was meant for me! It should have been me!" I yelled, still looking st Marinette and crying.

"What are you taking about?" Master Fu asked.

I turned my head towards Master Fu. "Hawkmoth meant to put the purple salt on me! Ladybug took it instead. It should have been me!" I yelled at him.

"Adrien you must calm down." Master Fu's kwami told me.

"No!" I yelled turning my head towards the kwamis. "Plagg, Claws Out!"

"Wait Adrieeeeenn~" Plagg yelled as he flew into my ring.

I jumped into the window.

"Wait Adrien! You must come back!" Master Fu yelled.

I ignored him and jumped away with tears streaming down my face.

I jumped from building to building. I didn't stop until I missed a jump and fell into an alley. I couldn't do anything but just sit there and cry.

"I'm sorry, Marinette. I am so sorry."
