"Hey baby, even though I hate ya, I wanna love ya (I want you). And even though I can't forgive ya, I really want to (I want you)... Tell me, tell me baby, why can't you leave me? Cause even though I shouldn't want it, I gotta have it," - Ariana Grande-Butera

"Giorgia!" Polly shouted through the Shelby home, Ada by her side in the living room.

"She's not good, Pol," Ada sighed, lighting a cigarette alongside her aunt. "All she's done is cry."

"Which is exactly why she needs to get out, face reality and move on," Polly shrugged.

Scoffing, Ada couldn't quite believe what she was hearing. Maybe it was because Ada was more empathetic, or kind, but either way, she didn't agree what was coming out of her Aunt's mouth. "Polly that's not a good idea-"

"She is married to my nephew, your brother. She is as much of this family as we are. Thomas needs a good slap, yes. And my God will he get one, but she cannot mope around any longer. She's a mother. Her kids need her. This shit show of a business needs her."

Ada knew that what Polly was saying was right, and it made sense too. Giorgia was wasting away in front of them all, she hadn't been near Thomas in weeks and life was taking it's toll. Or, maybe it was fate. Maybe this was the way Gia was destined to go. Maybe the gates to hell were opening for the Italian girl sooner rather than later.

What the two Shelby women were expecting was to find the girl moping down the stairs in an old jumper, barefoot with her hair draping down her back not having been brushed in days. But, what they found was the complete opposite. Her hair was in fact brushed and her natural curls draped down to her waist, dressed in a suit blazer looking more elegant than ever. Ada and Polly hadn't meant to make it so obvious with how shocked they were, but due to the fact Ada's jaw was practically on the living room floor, Giorgia smiled at her and pinched one of Polly's cigarettes.

"Something to say, ladies?" Gia asked, inhaling and exhaling her cigarette so ... flawlessly.

"I just-"

"We just," Polly corrected her niece, "weren't expecting you to be so... composed."

"Well, one thing my bastard no use father did teach me was there's no room for sadness in this world. It'll only chase you down the lane."

"He sounds like a wise man."

Giorgia scoffed, putting her bag on her shoulder. "No, he sounds like a petulant bastard."

"Right then," Ada squashed her cigarette in the ashtray, "let's go before we traumatise her some more, Tommy's expecting us."

"Who's with us?" Polly asked, looking out of the window onto the dirty streets of Small Heath.

"Isaiah and two Lee boys," Ada replied, lighting another cigarette with her sister in law.

"How long has it been since you've both had a fuck?" Polly asked out f the blue.

Ada choked on the smoke she'd inhaled and a smirk spread across Gia's face. "Depends on what you'd classify as a fuck. If you mean a quick meaningless shag when your nephew comes home at 3 am, then my last was Tuesday. If you mean a sensual romantic fuck, then I'd say three years ago," Gia smiled, mirroring the same expression on Polly's face.

"There she is," Polly winked. "It's been nearly two years with me, over Christmas I counted it up. So I've made a New Year's resolution to change the situation."

"Oh yeah," Ada teased, "anyone particular in mind?"

"Not really," Polly replied, "just me and someone unsuitable."
