When Shen Wei gave Mei the book that she had forgotten in his office, he saw her running to hug a man.

He naturally thought the man had to be her father, since she had told him that her mother was busy and his dad would pick her up instead.

He was surprised, the man looked too young to have a daughter of her age, but after all he was too distant to be able to judge.

He went back to his office to pack up for the day then headed home. As soon as he opened the door he felt something bumping at his leg.

"At least let me come inside."

He closed the door and went to take some cat food from the kitchen.

"There you go DaQing, enjoy."

The black cat jumped on the food and ate everything voraciously, under Wei's tender gaze, then settled itself on the sofa to sleep.

Only now could Wei make something for himself.

He ate in the kitchen and washed everything before taking his bag and sitting on the sofa, being careful not to disturb the peacefully sleeping cat.

He opened his bag and took out his computer. He logged in the game right away and checked who was online. Not many at this hour... his friend LanLan wasn't online either.

She was such a funny girl, he really regretted not having told her before that he was a man, but it just hadn't come up and now it seemed awkward.

He was afraid she might think he was trying to play with her, these things happen online after all, so he continued to let her believe that he was a girl too.

After all, it was just a game, right? Better continue this way instead of risking ruining what they had, he was too alone already as it was, without losing her online company.

Fact is, he had liked the game so much that he had already finished it with the three male characters available, so he was trying now using the enchantress.

This character wasn't easy to play by oneself, so he had started playing in group with other players and he had met LanLan that way, helping her shortly after she had joined the game.

It would be very embarrassing if people knew that his best friend was someone he had never met in real life, because that’s how Wei thought of her. He had colleagues and many acquaintances, but no real friends. Noone but LanLan.

Funny how it had all started because he had caught one of his students playing the game in class. He had taken away his phone for the rest of the day, but had secretly took note of its name, so that later he could check what it was so interesting that he couldn’t stop playing even during his lessons.

He never told the student though.

Since LanLan wasn't online yet, he opted for levelling his character a bit more to pass some time, until finally a message appeared on his screen.

“Hi WeiLin, u busy?”

Wei tried to contain his joy and replied immediately.

"Hi LanLan, I'm not busy, I was just levelling but it's getting boring, do you want to chat?"

Wei then waited for her reply with an unusual expression on his face, one that people rarely saw: a happy smile.

After leaving his cousin's house Yunlan went home, heated something in the microwave and ate it in the living room, sitting on the couch.

He opened his computer and logged in the game, he saw that his friend was online already and called her right away.
